Gotcha. Cool shit. So I assume your work is more on the actual mechanics of synthesizing compounds (are they proteins?) rather than figuring out what compounds need to be synthesized?
My direct work is method development of chemistry of the C-Terminal of Amino Acid ( peptides aka small proteins). I'm proving the method maintains the chiral centers ( keeps its 3d geometry) to maintain biologically active. In industry they have issues with the 3d geometry changing, and loosing yield. That's the simple answers. Its hard to some up a project in a paragraph lol

No, I think you did a great job of summarizing. You do basic research (and I mean that in the compimentary, not pejorative way) on what methods of sythensis lead to the molecular morphology thats most active. (i dunno your fields jargon, so ignore anthything that sounds stupid)

C @ChopShop since we know that a fair number of diseases (krutzfield-jacob and all those prion diseases, and probably alzhiemers) are caused by protiens changing the geometry (which is what chirality basically means, right) of other proteins, has anyone lookied into developing, isomers (again, sorry if thats the wrong word, i mean different structures) of proteins that change the harmfull structure of the protein back to the useful structure?
