^^Broner vs. Paulie was a good fight to me. GGG vs. I'm already scared before the fight Macklin was some bullshit. There are only 4 middleweight worth a damn GGG, Martinez, Qullien, and Murray. The rest are euro bums until they prove otherwise. I guess Rigo vs. Donaire was boring to you also?
GGG vs Macklin was not a bullshit fight, at all. Macklin is a guy that whooped the then WBA Champion in Felix Sturm but got a robbed in Germany. He went 12 rounds with Sergio and knocked him down and gave Sergio a good fight. He's a tough, solid fighter. And if you notice round 1 Macklin came out aggressive, he had a plan...until he got hit and felt Golovkin's power.
Macklin was also the only guy willing to step up and/or was available. Sergio is still injured. Quillin is on Showtime. Murray wasn't available (I believe he still has visa issues) and the other guy worth mentioning is Daniel Geale, since he's a title holder but he wasn't available either (he's fighting Darren Barker next month).
The ratings also reflected there was solid interest - 1.1 million viewers. Which are good numbers especially considering the fight was between a guy from Kazakhstan vs England. Brandon Rios vs Alvarado II did 1.2 million views so it puts it into perspective a bit. Also, HBO's "2 days", Golovkin's show had over 3 million viewers which is by far the most views for any of the 2 day specials.
Broner vs Malignaggi also reflected a lot of interest, it peaked at 1.3 million viewers, which are great numbers. I think it was a solid first test for broner moving up to 147. So both were good fights (neither was spectacular as far as challengers but solid nonetheless) intended to be challenges and hopefully showcase each ones skills.
