I'm not saying minorities are in a better or worse position. However, there are some advatages that minorities have available to them....
a lot of what your saying is true on paper but in the real world of black business there are many obstacles and glass cielings even with programs and affirmitive action laws,there are many loop holes for companies ,bankers,mortage bankers loan officers realators and builders,when it comes to investing and regenderfiying neiborhoods,even myself who have always owned and operated my businesses including 3 record stores have had many problems securing loans or store front grants even with good credit 800 credit score,they dont want black business to interfere with development,when i decided to invest my own money into my store front' my business became a beacon for white businessmen to take another look at this north portland area white boy will use to shop at my store and was only a hand full of whites that did at first but they were coming and loving the love coming from the store ! but i was still making 70k a year in the hood because the hood supported me,and i had a service to fufill that was keep product on the shelves i had a lease 5 years never missed a payment never late,banks would not give me any loans or show any love because they already knew what the future held for north portland,and it didnt include no (people of color businesses) i had to get that in lol,but any way when my lease was up the owner ,told me the city called him and told him not to renew my lease'they were going to get him pdc money and tenants paying top dollar for leases,if he kept me there there was no garantees,,the first thing that came from developers and bankers is that im a drug dealer! how can he survive,we (banks didnt give him any money!) but what they didnt know was the black community did support me and spent money with me,and i gave them the service they wanted'non stop bought some music from me when he was just a kid i hope i get a little credit when you blow up for the musically inflences lol" so the bottom line is this'it all sounds good on paper and you can spew all the economic advantages or work ethics,and generalzation in the world your skin is your sin when it comes to building wealth,did i let it stop me no! i made adjustments and moved forward,but most blk owned bizz cant bounce back,and there are many steriotypes and you have to have a thick skin no matter what color you are because the bottom line it is business) but when you do good business they should leave the color out of it.......... oh and by the way thank you north portland for suporting me all those years. rose-non stop-whiteboy will-nutz-maniac-j west -hakim j-mack-gotm-mike t-dj fresh-dj skeeter (rip) dj soup (rip) pleasure-shock-nu shoes-lover-blac clan-nine -c ant-day-million dolla mouth piece-faye-liquid antrax-mike harris-and all the rappers and singers who graced the one love record stores-spice1 yuk,c-bo-151-skunt-t nutty jacka-mobb figgaz-ice t-ice cube-shaquille oneal-all the blazers over the years my folx jr rider,sac sin,lynch-doomsday,comrads,mack 10,celly cel,shit the whole bay and so.cal
