The phrase "people of color" can be found in the OFFICIAL DOCTRINES of my college HERE

I'm not evaluating the word so far as its potential implications go, that's the shit that people write books about not posts on a rap music message board. All I was saying all along is that the word is around and that it is currently the politically correct term in style at most liberal arts colleges and major universities racial studies courses. Sixxness was comparing it to people saying "colored people" back in the early 1900s, LOL there's no connection at all homie.

I'm not saying minorities are in a better or worse position. However, there are some advatages that minorities have available to them....
a lot of what your saying is true on paper but in the real world of black business there are many obstacles and glass cielings even with programs and affirmitive action laws, there are many loop holes for companies ,bankers, mortage bankers loan officers realators and builders, when it comes to investing and regenderfiying neiborhoods, even myself who have always owned and operated my businesses including 3 record stores have had many problems securing loans or store front grants even with good credit 800 credit score, they dont want black business to interfere with development, when i decided to invest my own money into my store front' my business became a beacon for white businessmen to take another look at this north portland area white boy will use to shop at my store and was only a hand full of whites that did at first but they were coming and loving the love coming from the store ! but i was still making 70k a year in the hood because the hood supported me,and i had a service to fufill that was keep product on the shelves i had a lease 5 years never missed a payment never late, banks would not give me any loans or show any love because they already knew what the future held for north portland, and it didnt include no (people of color businesses) i had to get that in lol,but any way when my lease was up the owner ,told me the city called him and told him not to renew my lease'they were going to get him pdc money and tenants paying top dollar for leases,if he kept me there there was no garantees,,the first thing that came from developers and bankers is that im a drug dealer! how can he survive,we (banks didnt give him any money!) but what they didnt know was the black community did support me and spent money with me,and i gave them the service they wanted'non stop bought some music from me when he was just a kid i hope i get a little credit when you blow up for the musically inflences lol" so the bottom line is this'it all sounds good on paper and you can spew all the economic advantages or work ethics, and generalzation in the world your skin is your sin when it comes to building wealth, did i let it stop me no! i made adjustments and moved forward, but most blk owned bizz cant bounce back, and there are many steriotypes and you have to have a thick skin no matter what color you are because the bottom line it is business) but when you do good business they should leave the color out of it.......... oh and by the way thank you north portland for suporting me all those years. rose-non stop-whiteboy will-nutz-maniac-j west -hakim j-mack-gotm-mike t-dj fresh-dj skeeter (rip) dj soup (rip) pleasure-shock-nu shoes-lover-blac clan-nine -c ant-day-million dolla mouth piece-faye-liquid antrax-mike harris-and all the rappers and singers who graced the one love record stores-spice1 yuk,c-bo-151-skunt-t nutty jacka-mobb figgaz-ice t-ice cube-shaquille oneal-all the blazers over the years my folx jr rider, sac sin,lynch-doomsday,comrads,mack 10,celly cel, shit the whole bay and so.cal

all my physical stores are closed and i dont plan on opening another one its too many bootleggers for a mom and pop store to survive, although many of my customers still contact me and i ship to them direct,or bring the product to thier homes i tried to weather the storm but with no help to stop bootleggin it was moot'80% of my business was the sales of cd's,the rest misc: sodas,t shirts, insence, and the recording studio which only made my electric bill something terrible, and everybody wanting to record for free'the one thing about music bizz in general most people get into to it for the love of the art form and the passion it brings, but somewhere down the line it becomes all bizzness'and that causes a lot of brick walls and circles to start creating'i wanted the west coast to be one coast! we are so divided from southern cal-northern cal-central cal-portland-tacoma-seattle canada-las vegas-reno-phoenix-boise-spokane-tri cities-can you imagine if we all bought each others projects and supported the west rap commuinity! and still have your own style and indivdualism attached im guessing with no u.s census accuracy that its about 20 million people and out of that 20 million theres 2 million die hard rap fans of the west coast sound how you define the sound is according to your taste'the west coast rap community needs to support each other the nw has always supported the west now its time for the bay to buy the nw shit and southern cal and central cali-to start purchasing nw artists' nw got a lot of quality rappers and good production now and has evolved into a good rap market for production and its a hybrid sound a mixture of all the west coast sounds combined,IMO we need to get behind 1 artist or group in the north west and everybody push they shit and blow up this region, take a vote on who?then push it forward like they did nelly in mid west, and all the south music thats blowin up,all this good music on the west just get no love because we dont love'it needs to be one love for the west......

sorry for the long ass threads i just remebered my password in about 2 months.

@rose man i do miss the stores its crazy
but like my mentor alonzo campbell and code would say (dont fall in love with your bizzness)one day you will have to let it go..............

@ Seagram: I've seen the same thing happen up in Seattle a few times. The only people I appreciate more than the rappers making this music gracing my ears is guys like you, the entrepreneurs. Thank You.

I remember the first time I walked into New Millenium Music (Thomas, I think he had a store in Portland too), I discovered the music I'd been searching for in vain on the internet and Kube 93. Then I discovered ARS (with Guy & Ferl), then I discovered Famm (Mr. Network). Then I discovered another store in the CD (17th & Yesler).

Let me make myself known, I'm a whiteboy, I feel what you're saying about that, not many white people besides me shop in these places.

PEOPLE SUPPORT YOUR MOM & POPS SHOPS. That's where the hot shit comes from, only order internet when you have to. Get in your car, drive down to the black community and BUY IT FROM THE COMMUNITY WHO MADE IT.
