Tadou, I'm not saying you can't say shit. I was asking about the reasons why, but I wasn't talking to you.

And.. i can speak on it, cause i do know about it. some people are educated differently and understand things differently. but i know what i mean, just cause you don't read the words the same way i do doesn't mean i'm wrong so cut the disrespect. and nobody is getting their panties in a bunch, i said i was interested in having a discussion about it. you said what you had to say and so did i. I haven't ever heard any history teachers at my school say it, or sociology, or ethnic studies. that's a funny difference though between universities, maybe i'll check into the use of the terms.

. But I respect myself enough that if someone I dont know is saying that mess to me in person, I am gonna react just like a blackman would to a white stranger saying something about his race.
Real deal..i feel like the racism in the Northwest is just as bad towards white people...pisses me off....

1) Poor people have never had much in the way of material possessions, opportunities etc etc etc but one thing they've always had is TURF, now they don't even have that. By far the strongest neighborhood Turf association in Seattle is the Central District, there is so much CD pride, when the T-Kid guy was killed everybody was talking about he was a real Central District soldier etc etc etc there is such a strong Central District pride. But you know what? CD used to be 75% black, now it's less than 50 % black, someday it will be less than 30% black. Their turf is evaporating, and with it means that the turf for creative hip-hop music is also evaporating.
THEN YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THE SOUTH END, NOT TAKING ANYTHING AWAY FROM THE DISTRICT. AND ARE YOU SURE THAT THOSE ARE THE ACCURATE PERCENTAGES OR YOU'RE JUST ESTIMATING HOMIE?

^That's cause most people will get offended and start talking shit. If people could have a serious conversation without disrespecting each other or coming at each other all sideways it would be all good, but hey...This is the Northwest, where we argue until our faces turn blue. lol...

Those are the actual percentages (2000 US Census) for the ENTIRE CITY like I said, NOT particular neighborhoods within the city.

Hey, I dunno where you been looking up your census information...But the government doesn't give out census info for at least 10-20 years (I think it's more like 30+). I don't know about population stats, but I do know that they don't give out other information, until a certain time period has passed.

SO it's "not very politically correct" to say people of color have more obstacles to upward mobility than whites? I would say that is very politically correct.
How do you figure? Diversity equals profitability, fact. The demand for an educated and motivated "minority" is copious to say the least. Everyone company/industry needs and benefits from them, especially banks. I could make a couple of arguments that you have a competitve advantage in corporate america being a minority.

Your statement is a success related restriction that you have imposed on yourself....

I am a geography major. I work with Census information everyday, my summer job was processing census information and mapping it. I know what I'm talking about.

They don't release information including an individual's name for 20 years. They release all of the information in confidential form (with no names attached, only data) 1-2 years after they take the Census. The results of the 2000 Census have been available for about 3 years now.

Feel free to look up stats (racial make up or anything else) any city in the country here

I don't quite follow. Other than you saying if you're a minority who has the education then you've got an advantage (which I also might agree with), I'm not sure what you mean, feel free to elaborate.

It's a discussion about a term ("people of color") and I was trying to come up with an example of how using that term is not (as it is in the eyes of Sixxness) is not oppressive or politically incorrect etc etc.

I got to make to make it quick since I'm watching the dallas/phoenix game right now.....

here are a few points....

Corporations not only hire minorities because they are required by law but because a diverse staff is condusive to further profitabilty. It's exapnds their market out to ethnic communities, its just a good business model. These companies need to hire minorities to stay competitive and build market share in their community.....

Banks and finance companies are especially in need of minoroties as this country becomes more and more ethnically diverse. If you speak a second language they will even pay you more....

The govt also provides special SBA 704 loans to minorities to help finance star up business ventures or commercial real estate or contrsuction loans......

these are just a few points, I will finish conveying my points later if you care to hear them....

the game is on....

OK gotcha, thanks for elaborating. I agree with that stuff. GETTING THERE is a hell of a lot more difficult for them though. But for the highly qualified people you are talking about, you're right 100%.

I'm not saying minorities are in a better or worse position. However, there are some advatages that minorities have available to them....

I actually heard my sociology prof say people of color yesterday, which made me laugh cause I thought about this. But right after she kept saying minorities and didn't say it again. I'm pretty sure she's the only prof that I've had who has said it though. Either way, to me it seems like a nice way to segregate people all over again.
