Hell I can dig it... I don't particularlly like cops or rich white people. Only thang is I don't stereotype people like that, we're all different regardless of the stereotypes. If you gotta lump people into categories like that then do what you do but that road leads to anger and self destruction in my opinion. I'm not really trying to walk around angry all the time... Been there, done that. Shit ain't never done nothing for me but stress me out and put me in jail.

This is the atmosphere in portland.. I can't speak on seattle.. But portland is goin thru a fucked up gentrification process right now... So blacks and minorities are up in arms right now (Blacks more so then others)... I don't generalize all white people... I was speakin to HIM as he'd understand it... But when I'm in my neighborhood, and I see a white dude come ask me for dope, he usually has a hard time untill we figure out he's coo.. That's just the way it goes... And its even worse since our "hoods" are now the "hip" and "popular" parts of town now that the white people have taken it over... They put us together and pretty much encourage us to fight and sell drugs (if u don't believe me go to ur local "hoods" and tell me how much of the shootings and robberies and killings actually make the news), then when the property values are down, they give a family that never had shit in life, $60,000 and to them there rich for a month or so.... Then they white ppl that bought it make a few adjustments and sell it for $325,000...
I've seen this... And it pisses me off... I'm not mad at anyone here for not agreein wit what I said.. I'd be mad in yalls shoes too... But this is what our "friendly, diverse" neighborhoods are brewin

I totally agree with what is said by nonstop about this. I have lived all over Portland from St John's to NE to SE Portland. I prefer N Portland the most but I do remember living off of Commercial & Ivy & you rarely seen any white folks in that hood but now that whole area changed so much I don't like it. I am Native but I am also part white.
I am a victim of gentrification..MAn some cops just came to my house tonight..."We recieved a kall from your security alarm that there was a break in" when I know damn well that my houses security has been off since the last owners moved out...what kind of bullshyt people are these?? If so, then you shouldn't be talking about white people in general like that cause you don't know every white person or where they are from, etc. And I thought the term "colored" went out a loong ass time ago? Then again, I don't live where you do, so maybe that's normal...But since you're half white a lot of those comments apply to yourself as well.
Funny thang is... I feel you dog. Straight up. I see the same thang happening around here... It happens everywhere to every race, I can't really pin point how to fix it, cause I'm not that smart... But it hurts me to see anybody going through it regardless of the situation. You're experiencing something you don't like in your neighborhood, I got that kinda love for my area too. I hate to see people I grew up with hooked on dope, selling they bodies on aurora and greenwood and living in bondage. That shit pains my soul, it also hurts to know that I can't even afford to buy a house there anymore. So I'm saying, I feel you cause that shit is happening everywhere regardless. Bottom line is God didn't intend life to be this way and I'm not going to start preaching, but it's thick everywhere. All I can do is help out as many people as possible before I pass and hope I get a pass when I die. That's where I'm coming from.

1) Poor people have never had much in the way of material possessions, opportunities etc etc etc but one thing they've always had is TURF, now they don't even have that. By far the strongest neighborhood Turf association in Seattle is the Central District, there is so much CD pride, when the T-Kid guy was killed everybody was talking about he was a real Central District soldier etc etc etc there is such a strong Central District pride. But you know what? CD used to be 75% black, now it's less than 50 % black, someday it will be less than 30% black. Their turf is evaporating, and with it means that the turf for creative hip-hop music is also evaporating.
2) Too many white people on here take offense to too many things, they don't understand that when they carve out a place in society for people of color that the people of color are going to in turn carve out a very defined place in their community for white people, and when they're faced with that they get all up in arms. I know damn well who I am and where I come from whenever I go into certain neighborhoods to buy CDs or whatever. White people in the NW aren't used to the stuff that is so fundamental and ingrained in Midwest, East Coast and Southern cities.

I understand what you're saying, but I gotta say somethin.. You say "they" like all white people are the ones doing something wrong or "carving out a place for people of color." And who fuckin says "people of color" anymore? Or "colored people" for that matter? Sound like republicans and shit, I heard Bush didn't even know what the civil rights movement was...Anyway, if you're sayin too many white people take offense, EVERYONE on here takes offense to everything, for the most part. Respect isn't just something that most people give out, I know I sure as fuck don't...Unless the person I'm interacting with is giving me respect as well. If you got respect that'll be enough for most people. But aren't we just as worthy to know about lots being sold for 40 and $50k??? There's hella black busines owners that woulda loved being a part of cleaning the hood up...
