@Beto, this one is gonna be worth calling in sick for !

Manny looks really solid. He's always been ripped, but 'skinny' ripped. Now he looks like he's filled out with pure muscle.

I don't read or hear many people talking about the advantage that Manny has in not having to cut any weight. He will be coming into the ring at 100% strength on fight night.

Guys who cut water weight and then rehydrate often are left sluggish and lethargic, due to the physiological reasons of cutting and then rapidly regaining 10-15 pounds.

Marco A. Barrera: "De La Hoya-Pacquiao is a Circus Act"

By Mark Vester

Former three division champion Marco Antonio Barrera let it all hang out when talking about the upcoming fight between Oscar De La Hoya and Manny Pacquiao. Barrera fought, and lost, two fights with Pacquiao. He was also a partner in De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions, leaving the company a few months ago to sign a deal with promoter Don King.

Barrera says the fight is a disgrace and nothing more than a circus act to line the pockets of the two fighters involved.

"What battle? This is not battle. This doesn't give any respect to the people - it's a circus. It is something that will make us lose a lot of credibility as boxers with these kind of things," Barrera told Nicaraguan journalist Pablo Freights. "Why didn't De La Hoya challenge Antonio Margarito or one of the Klitschkos"

"I believe Oscar should win in two rounds. The fight is a circus. Jose Sulaiman [WBC president] said the same thing, that the fight was a circus. Their pockets are the ones that are going to win. They are the ones who going to leave full and satisfied because the boxing family will not get a lot from this farce."

I don't see how this fight affects any boxer's credibility besides Oscar's.

I understand that there is a fairly significant size advantage, but its been done before in boxing, and it will continue to happen, so long as there are extremely gifted little guys willing to move up and face bigger fighters.

And which 'boxing family' is he refering to ? As if they are all unified and one entity.

Oscar is in a lose lose situation.... if he wins he beat up on a smaller dude (like a bully) if he loses he lost to a smaller man. All for the money huh...

^ LMAO. Yeah, if he had any love for the sport left in him, he'd be doing what he said he would be doing and that is fighting the winner of Margarito-Cotto...which was Margarito.

Oscar Dollar-Hoya doesn't give a fuck about boxing, and hasn't since he put his promoter hat on.

And Felix Strum is ? LOL

I understand what you're saying but De La Hoya VS _________ turns into a big fight.

He was banking on Cotto winning the fight, because he felt he had a better chance against him. When Margarito destroyed Cotto, he didn't want no parts of that.

not that its even much of your argument, but that was supposedly a tuneup fight. He would have fought mayweather if that dumb fuck didnt turn down 30 mil, i mean thats really as big of a fight as he could have got. fighting the most skilled fighter, the best of both worlds.

I hear ya. I just figured he took the easy way out, after being so adamant about fighting the winner of that Cotto/Marg fight.

Oh well, I'll be watching regardless !

I'm off to Vegas tomorrow, I'll update this thread with pics !
