the point was, it doesn't matter how smart you are, you are going to have your beliefs no matter what. by saying 100% of retards believe in god is just as meaningless as saying 30% of scientists are athiests (a number i find highly questionable by the way)..... i said that showing how pointless and stupid that stat was to begin with
Okay, here it is, the whole deal. If you feel it, follow it. If it's in your heart, it's there and you gotta do what you gotta do. If you choose to blindly follow a church, more power to you. If you choose to deny theism and just go with the flow of life, sans spiritual interruption, more power to you. I personally couldn't deal with the corruption of my church (Catholic) any longer, so I choose to limit their impression on me and believe whatever is in my heart, as I believe everyone should do.
One thing you have to know is that, for a lot of people, faith is absolutely necessary. Even if it isn't a felt presence, its something to look forward to (most religions have some sort of promising afterlife for those who live righteous lives) and give them hope. Some people only make it through tragedy by praying, and I think that it's great that they at least have something to hold on to if they lose everything else. (Example: A mother loses all of her children in some freak accident.)

For instance the part where God orders Joshua to destroy the Canaanites. How many people understand why God gave such orders? Who were the Canaanites and how they've come to be?
You have to understand as Heresy said, all this can easily be explained. There were things back in the old days that God "had" to do that he "no" longer needs to do.
He had to get rid of this race of hybrids before they spread their wickedness again just like they did in the days of Noah....
