Just to let it be known that i'm agnostic, and my view on religion is that it was founded on the fact people have a little thing called the conscious that cannot deal with the fact that when you die, your just dead and nothing more. so the founders of religion used this weakness mankind has to make money and help ease our conscious and fears, in a life after death.
Maybe some religions were indeed created for the reasons you pointed out to.
Hence the Asian religions.

But I think the bible stands alone. For many reasons.
But one of the more important reasons to point out to someone who is not familiar with it are it's many fulfilled prophecies.

as an atheist...i see the idea to this theist vs. atheist RIDICULOUS...the whole idea of someone being religious is that they are blindly faithful to something they have no proof of, so whats an argument going to do? make you atheists feel better about "being right"? youll never "be right", if scientist had CONCRETE evidence that religion wasnt real, THEY WOULD STILL TURN TO THEIR FAITH. do you not understand that they rely on FAITH? a semi-intelligent atheist can easily out-argue a religious person, they dont think beneath issues, it takes a certain type of mind to not be religious and it has alot to do with society today, the stressing of individualism and such. JUST GIVE IT UP!
What would you say about a former atheist who is now religious?

Let me tell you this, some times in life you can be dead wrong and have no idea about it.
How can you sit there and assume everyone who's religious is blind? How about you pick up a bible and study it's history? Study every other religion and then make your call.

Oh yeah and to this point, no atheist has been able to out argue me. And I'm a hishschool drop out....

I have alwayz been a person who beleives in science. its hard for me to accept that there is a god when science shows that we were not born as humans but evolved from apes (or sum shit like that). at times i want to believe in a higher power because i dont want to beleive that this is it, but i am also scared that there may be a a higher power because what if god isnt forgiving i have already fucked my life up and if there is a higher power i pray that he is a mercifull god. i have gone to church with my parents almost every sunday my whole life, i have been baptized as a cathilc and i cant even say if i believe or not...
Make it easier on yourself, just pick up a bible.
You will find the help you need in there.
And if you doubt what you're reading, study it's history....

how can an atheist worship the devil?
That's how it starts.
The absence of God paves the way for Satan.

It happenned to me....
It's like first you don't believe in a higher power but then you succumb to evil. Not knowing it....
Those who believe in good also believe in evil. More specific, the bible describes Satan as a great deceiver.
Those who believe in the bible literately believe that Satan will stop at nothing to trick you into falling.
There for one that does not have God in their life can easily succumb to Satan's deeds. All it takes to fall is not to believe in God, and Satan is happy with that. You do not have to believe in evil at all. Some people tend to go deep into the accult, and actually worship evil.... By then, it's out of pure rebellion against God....

2-0,

I'll stick to the subject of this thread.
First of all, I speak for myself.
It takes more for a atheist to believe than it does for someone who is curious or already believes in a higher power.
It took more to convince me, it took years....
I was raised in a Catholic home, forced to go to church and all.
I'm Mexican, I took a whoopin for not going to church when I was a kid. So I hated church, and I hated having to read the bible at home while we had bible study. I couldn't understand the shit I was readin and I could never understand why anyone would waste their time with religion period. I saw the hypocrisy of the church and the people attending it. Without understanding the bible, I made the assumption that this was what Christianity was all about. I felt that everyone who was religious was brain washed because they never questioned their beliefs as I did.
The more I looked at life, it was evident to me that there was no God. Plus all the shit you learn at school, it convinces you that there is no God. And if there is no God then every religion in the world is bullshit.....
So that's how I became an athiest, who came out of a Catholic home.....

I received hints through out my life, hints of a higher power.
Hints that I ignored or brushed off as coincedences.
To get straight to the point, it was coincedence after coincedence until I finally gave in to the possibility. To the idea that there "might" be a higher power.
It took a drastic and clear hint from God himself to convince me.
My girl was coming back from Asia from visiting her family.
She was pregnant at the time, she booked a flight for late October. The reservation was confirmed and all, but with in a few days I got the feeling that I didn't want her to come back just yet. It's hard to explain but I felt I wasn't ready to crash in with her, I was still looking for a place of my own. So any how, I asked her to cancel her reservation. Don't really know why but I felt she had to wait. We argued for a few days because the flight was only 2 weeks away. She was pissed and I figured she wouldn't listen to me, and still come out here. Well I got a call a few weeks later and it's her, she tells me to check the news. She cancled her flight and the plane she was scheduled to fly in had an accident in Taiwan.... I was in shock........ For a few months......
It didn't hit me right then. I just played it off as another coincedence in my life.....

Until I started picking up on all the evil around the world. The evil in my life, with my rivals and all. I asked myself why was the world like this? Then I read some shit on the net about the CIA actually importing drugs into our ghettos. And that's what started it off for me. I started picking up all this dirt on our government, very much like you are doing now 2-0....
I traced their idealogical roots back to Adam Weishaupt's Illuminatti. And it's roots to an ancient Islamic cult....
I saw all the accult shit behind these powerful people, and asked myself why? Why are our leaders and most powerful and rich people so involved with the occult?
Then I experienced evil itself....
I came to the conclusion that evil is real. I lived it.... I experienced it personally because it took over my life. I understood why our leaders are stuck on the occult and evil.

So once I understood that evil was real, then it wasn't difficult to believe in good. I thought to myself about what happenned to me and my family. About every hint from God that I had ignored in my life.... So the next step was to find what version of God was the real deal.... First I started out with the New Age stuff, which was very interesting to me.... I researched all the facts behind every religion and only one stood way up higher than the rest.
I had a lot speculation about it cuz I was so concentrated on it's so-called believers. I looked at all the things that were bad about Christianity in a blind way. I was assuming that the bible was bullshit for the shit I saw from it's so-called Christians.
Everything changed when I picked a bible up.
I felt stupid because that's what it made me feel about myself. I was so wrong about my view towards it. Every question I had was answered by it. I asked myself why hadn't anyone ever told me this shit, then I remembered how deceitful evil can be.....

So that's about it....
I left out a lot of shit but I felt this post is long as it is to begin with. Anyway, I hope that helps you get an idea 2-0.
I'll admit it, if God hadn't touched my life, I'd still be lost to this day....
So speaking from a personal experience and my little bro's own experience, it takes the hands of God himself to convince an atheist that he exists....
But remember what Jesus said, it went something like this "blessed is he who believes in me without having to see"....

Notice this thread is NOT CALLED "CONVINCE A THEIST!!!"

I'm not trying to convince anybody of anything. I've told you in the past that I respect all peoples beliefs.

This thread is only for fun/entertainment.

I want to hear miggidy expailn his views on these prophecies that the bible has in it, that he points out in almost all of his arguments.
The old threads are deleted but here I go, "for the benefit of the new guy"....

Now let’s start with Daniel….
Daniel the prophet predicted in about 538 BC that Jesus would come as Israel's promised Savior and Prince, 483 years after the Persian emperor would give the Jews authority to rebuild Jerusalem, which was then in ruins.

Then there’s the prophecies of Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and Daniel whom prophesized the coming of the Messiah and many others.
It’s funny how people questioned the early church’s claims according to their scripture. People would say, “Oh, you guys made this stuff up. You wrote these alleged prophecies after they were fulfilled. Which deems them non prophetic!”.
And you know what happened to the skeptics???? Where are they now?
They were all humbled after the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls. Scrolls which contained the testimony of these prophets. Scrolls that date back WWWAAAAYYY before the prophecies were even fulfilled. And you know what?
A lot of these prophecies are being fulfilled as we speak.
Research this stuff bro. Find out the truth for yourself.
You will be shocked at what you find….

Jesus himself fulfilled over 300 hundred prophecies through out his life time.
Again, look it up bro…..

Now I haven’t even mentioned the bible’s scientific accuracy:
Isaiah 40:22 Roundness of the earth
Isaiah 55:9 Almost infinite extent of the sidereal universe
II Peter 3:7 Law of conservation of mass and energy
Psalm 102:25-27 Law of increasing entropy
Ecclesiastes 1:6 Atmospheric circulation
Job 26:7 Gravitational field
I know what you are saying, “these aren’t prophecies!”.
Hold your horse’s man, this is info that was released to these people through revelations LONG before it was discovered.

Still in doubt? Why don’t you find out why and what are the Palestinians hiding under the Moslem Haram Al-Sharif? AKA the Temple Mount….

How about researching all the archeological evidence supporting the biblical scripture? Noah’s Ark, The Tower of Babel, Sodom and Gomorrah?
I can go on all night long….

I stated this is for FUN. I’m not asking anyone to change his or her beliefs; this is simply to exercise the mind.

I understand that they rely on faith, which I’m sure both you and I consider unacceptable.

I don’t know why you’re suggesting I "give it up!" What’s wrong with a little debate?

I've picked up a bible. I didnt find anything inside but contradictions, lies, and some interesting myths.

Hmmm, I wouldnt suggest someone to study the bibles history if I were you. What they may find is evidence that supports the Atheist. Remember, MANY parts of the bible have been found in other religions that were HUNDREDS and even THOUSANDS of years before Jesus or the bible.
