The funny thing is, I'll remember my dream when I wake up, sometimes I remember it the whole day. I would tell myself to remember these dreams. And over the next few days I have fuckin absolutely no idea what I told myself to remember and I've totally forgotten about the dream(s).

I have sleep paralysis all the time. I made a thread about it some time back. If you use the search function you might find it. I can control most aspects of my dreams now. When I first started flying in my dreams I had to run down the street to take flight. Now I'm able to do it at will. If I want to dream about something specific I try to think about it like an hour before I go to bed. I drown everything out and focus on that.

I've had the beat experience also. Heard some tight shit but couldn't replay it when I woke up. I also hear weird sounds/noises and voices when I'm falling asleep.

But back to the sleep paralysis thing. When I first experienced it I thought devils were trying to get me. I hit the net, found some books on the subject and read up before I told people I had demonic encounters.

@2-0-6 how do you feel dreams relate to evolution?

I know what you mean about the flying...I started out only able to jump very high, as in over trees and buildings, but I would always come back down.

Actually, there is very good article I read by "Scientific American" I stumbled across when I was researching dreams, and lucid dreams. HERE is the .pdf file incase you want to read it.

Basically the author states that the first mammals did not dream or experience REM, only after the evolution of placentals and marsupials followed the development of REM sleep or dreams.

Very insightful and I recomend you read it when you get a chance.

This sleep cycle—alternating slow-wave and REM sleep—
appears to be present in all placental and marsupial mammals.
Mammals exhibit the various REM-associated characteristics
observed in humans, including EEG readings similar to those
of the awake state. Animals also dream. By destroying neurons
in the brain stem that inhibit movement during sleep, researchers
found that sleeping cats rose up and attacked or were startled
by invisible objects—ostensibly images from dreams…..

At least one animal experiences slow-wave but not REM
sleep—and, consequently, does not exhibit theta rhythm when
asleep. This animal is the echidna, or spiny anteater, an egg-laying
mammal (called a monotreme) that provides some insight
into the origin of dreaming. The absence of REM sleep in the
echidna suggests that this stage of the sleep cycle evolved some
140 million years ago, when marsupials and placentals diverged
from the monotreme line. (Monotremes were the first mammals
to develop from reptiles.)

YEAH A LOT OF PEOPLE NEVER HEARD OF SLEEP PARALYSIS....IT WAS A DOCTOR WHO SUGGESTED IT MIGHT BE THAT BUT MOST OTHER DOCS IVE DISCUSSED IT WITH DONT KNOW WHAT IT IS....I ALSO HAD TO FIND OUT ABOUT IT ON THE NET......BUT I STILL DONT DOUBT THAT WHILE IN THIS STATE OF SEMI CONSCIOUSNESS YOU ARE ABLE TO SEE THINGS THAT MIGHT ACTUALLY BE THERE BUT YOU CANT SEE OR HEAR WHILE FULLY AWAKE....CUZ SOME SHIT JUS TOO REAL AND COINCIDENTAL......

I believe I had one of those sleep paralysis experiences for the first time a month or 2 ago, it was very wierd and scary. I remember I was going to sleep in my room, which I believe was a dream, but in my dreams nothing ever looks the same but this time my room was exactly the same. I remember waking up and having this feeling theres a presence in the room and I felt it getting closer like it was trying to get me and I tried to move but nothing wouldmove and I was trying frantically for what felt like forever but was only about 5-10 seconds. Then I woke up and could move. I was real shook up and didn't wanna go back to sleep but was real tired and just laid down. I could hear my mom talking and was kinda going to sleep and it felt like I was sliding off my bed so I woke up but was in the middle of my small ass bed and the way it felt I shouldve been hanging off the edge. Then I start to go to sleep again and my eyes arent all the way closed and I can hear my moms voice still and I get the sliding feeling again and I sit there for a few seconds and by that time I should've been off the bed. This happened like 2-3 more times before I was too scared to go to sleep. It was the wierdest feeling I ever had because I could feel the ripples in my sheets like I was really moving. The part where I couldn't move was real scary too because of that presence I felt. It was the same feeling I get when I feel someone coming towards me without hearing them except it was much stronger. That feeling I 've had all my life where I could sense movement have always scared me because I'd be alone in my apartment and sense someone and get worried then hear a creak in the ceiling and realize it was someone upstairs.

I get that sleep paralyses all the time and the lucid dreaming. I have too many wierd experiences to list. Usually I start freakin out when I have the sleep paralyses because I think I'm going to roll over on my face and not be able to stop myself from suffocating so I try my hardest to move around or wake up and can always gain control of my right toe but all I can do is barely move it. It only lasts for a couple of seconds but it scares the shit out of me.

Last week I had a lucid dream where I was right outside of my barracks and was playing on the ice cuz everything was frozen. And when I realized I was dreaming I started changing the season? I guess or some crazy shit cuz the ground was still frozen but the Sun and the time of day and how the sky looked I was changin at will. And I was having the fuckin time of my life until I woke up.

Oh yeah in that same dream I went to some crazy mall where there was nothin but fineass girls everywhere I turned and then all of a sudden it turned into some dawn of the dead type shit. I was all runnin around until I noticed three little boys who didn't look like zombies and who weren't trippin. So I started to chase them and when I caught up to one of them we started talkin and he was teachin me how they made all the zombies. But it was in some wierd psychic language that I couldn't say with words. Then as I was walkin around I met the "real" jedi council and I remember thinkin to myself "goddamn Yoda don't look nothin like the movies in real life" I knew it was them but I couldn't understand what they were sayin. It was fuckin crazy, it was like I was in a whole new state of consciousness in a different dimension or somethin.

I'll jump/roll around in my sleep too doing wierdass crazy blockin type stuff with my hands. When I'm half awake/sleep it feels natural like I know what the fuck I'm doing. One of the craziest things I've done while doing this was one time I was late for work and my alarm clock was going off and I spun around and hit the littleass button on the clock that turns it off not the bigass snooze one with my index finger. And I remember thinkin that I wanted to do it and then just trippin afterwards because I did do it. It was kind of like beep beep, swoosh, pause, what the fuck... that was fuckin cool. What made it so cool was that my alarm clock was always someplace different on the floor next to my bed and I hit that little button on sound recognition alone.

Good thread 2-0....

I have lucid dreams pretty often, problem is that they are so real I don't realize that they are dreams.
If I can only control some of these dreams, oh man! haha....

I'm gonna look into some of the info you provided cuz I've actually gotten some good info out of dreams when I know I'm dreaming.
People say it's your sub conscious talking, others say that there is a "collective" sub conscious.
Either way, I've gotten ideas for beats, lyrics, and just about anything imaginable.
Hell I get these ideas every now and then even when I'm not asleep....
You just gotta tune into to the sub conscious....
A good read for this type of shit is "The Adventure of Self-Discovery" by Stanislav Grof

As for the sleep paralysis everyone is talking about, it's a medical condition.
But I had a very interesting experience with it.
I saw the gray ghost/phantom/alien that a very few say they see.
Way before I even heard of sleep paralysis.
Shit that's trippy is that the image appeared in my head (I think)....
Either way, it reacted to me openning my eyes....
I don't get that shit anymore but the pressence of the image felt similar to what I used to feel in the past. The feeling of the sub concsious communicating with me.
But it was different then, it was all negative then....

Trippy stuff....

Oh and that shit you said about waking up at night in the woods,
you sure it was sleep walk?
The first time you saw them "grays" (Aliens)
Did they look familiar to you?

I'm joking but I remember watching an episode of Scooby Doo when I was a kid.
The episode was about some demon and shit, funny thing is that the demon depicted on the episode looked very familiar.

Even trippier was when my little bro, then 4 years old saw the same episode and told my dad (in front of me) that he had seen the same demon in one of his dreams.

Odd eh?

A few days after my grandma died I had a dream where me and some of my relatives were gathering together and my grandma's spirit came and visited us, kind of like a farewell announcement or something. In my dream, she let us know she was happy, and showed us that she was no longer confined to a wheelchair and how she could now do whatever she wished.
Well anyways later in my dream we all got a chance to ask my grandma questions, i can't remember what I asked her, but I remember my aunt asking her if she had any pain(when she died)....without a response my grandma faded away.

A month or so later I was at dinner with my aunt and mom. We were talking about how much we missed my grandma. Well anyways my aunt starts talking about a dream she had in which my grandma had visited her and several other relatives, my aunt then says that she asked my grandma if she had any pain when she died and how my grandma didnt respond and jsut faded away after that.

@Ccytzo: that is some crazy shit, glad u shared it.

The other night I had a dream in which I actually died, some very trippy shit..i've had dreams where i'm about to die or something but then I would wake up right before I do. Ive been thinking about this dream and its meaning for the past few days... it trips me out.
well anyways in my dream after I died I went back in spirit form and was roaming around and seeing what was up with the people i knew during my life... some of the people could actually feel my presense and would sort of acknowledge it but most people didnt show any sign of knowing that I was there...my spirit was invisible to most. I specifically remember a point in my dream when I went up to my mom who was crying at my funeral and i kind of like hugged her goodbye.... and she just sort of closed her eyes and smiled.

i have had lucid dreams, the first i had i could just hover, the next one i could fly, str8 crazy, i also had a dream that was the trippyest shit ever, in the dream i ate and slept and woke up, the dream seemed to last for 3 - 4 weeks, i actually went to sleep and woke up inside my dream, none of the dream came true, but all of it was mainly positive, like living in a perfect world type shit, i have also had dreams where someone is robbing my house, but a cannot hit him or anything, i can walk and shit but it is like i don't have enough strenghth to attack him, he looks and laughs and goes bacc to what he is doin, and i can't scream, only a high pitched noise happens, like when you screem with yur mouth closed, trippy shit, i wanna have no dreams at all, shit just makes me waist time eccpecting good things to happen that don't and thinkin bout what they meen, and not sleepin for days cause i was frightened by the experiance.

Yes, I have them.
I can set them up for me and program other peoples.
You only dream in REM, and you slip in out of REM about 2 or 3 three times per sleep...that is why you have more than one dream per sleep. You may only really remember one, but at times you recall having two or three seperate ones.

Programming your own is fun.
Programming others has its purpose...
