Ask, Seek, Knock

7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
9 “Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!

Montiel lost to Valdez .. don't let boxrec fool you. That win against Sidorenko and the way he performed was as impressive as it gets. Montiel's win over Hasegawa is all class and he gets major credit for it but Montiel is there to be hit and Donaire's gonna hit him..

No love in this thread of Soto Vs. Antillon? That fight was awesome. Back and forth the entire 12 rounds, Antillon seemed to get hurt a few times, Soto seemed to get stopped in his tracks but body shots and was hit clean through most of the night. With not a lot of stand out action fights this year I thought this should be getting more credit than it is now. They should book Soto Vs. Rios ASAP.

they should, but unfortunately I heard they are working on a REMATCH for the undercard of pacquiao's next fight (with rios fighting someone else on the undercard as well).
I just watched the fight which is why I haven't been online much to avoid spoilers. It seems like Arum was talking about Soto Vs. Rios & Vazquez Vs. Antillon on the same card immediately after the fight. Did it change since then?

Damn, so everyone here is counting Montiel out huh...

Donaire vs Montiel is going to be an HBO PPV fight.
Donaire needs to be back in camp in 2 weeks to get his 8 weeks in.
Where was this said? HBO has never shown a Donaire fight why would they automatically put up the money for a PPV with two guys they've never showcased? It should be a regular HBO fight, but will more than likely just be a Top Rank PPV.

Rios Enraged By Soto-Antillon II Talks, Wants Soto Next

By Ernest Gabion

It hes been reported that WBC Lightweight champion, Humberto "Zorrita" Soto, has expressed his interest in rematching Urbano Antillon following their all action affair this past Saturday.

This did not sit well with Lightweight Contender "Bam Bam" Brandon Rios who had been told by his promoter that he would be in line to fight the winner of this past Saturday's fight.

"It has come to my attention that Humberto Soto stated that he is not ready for a fight with me and that it is too soon yet he is willing to give Urbano Antillon a rematch,” stated Rios.

Rios currently serves as the mandatory contender to another lightweight titlist, Miguel Acosta, but was assured a shot at Soto as early as next February on Showtime.

Recent reports suggest that Soto won’t be ready to return to the ring that early, regarded as too soon after his Fight of the Year candidate with Antillon, in which he took a narrow decision.

There was nothing to suggest that Rios had to fight him that soon, just that he was granted next crack at Soto, as promised.

“From what I understood, I was to be in line to fight the winner of their December 4th fight. I was personally looking forward to fighting the winner and I will say this on record that my desire still is to fight (Soto).”

As far as Rios sees it, the onus is now on Soto to make good on the original promise and not just take the ‘fight-who-my-promoter-puts-in-front-of-me’ stance.

“Humberto Soto, if you are a warrior then it's time to man up and take the fight with me. The ball is in your court. Fight me and we will show the world who the better fighter is.

“I am confident it is me and I am willing to prove this. Are you?"

weigh in's happened I'll post pics as they come in but here's the kicker...

Joan Guzman is on the undercard to Khan-Maidana and is hoping to fight Khan in England if he wins.

Guzman is fighting a bum at 140. He weighed in at 144. Overweight again! This after he was talking about earning HBO's trust back yada yada yada.

if it means anything his opponent was overweight too at 143. I guess the contracted weight was 141.

Same with Victor Ortiz/Peterson. Ortiz weighed in at 141 but I guess that was the contracted weight (Peterson 139).

Khan 140
Maidana 139

Also, KO artist Randall Bailey was just fighting Mayweather's fighter Said Ouali in Belgium which was an IBF welterweight title eliminator...Bailey knocked down Said two times in the second, then apparently threw him out of the ring and the fight was ruled a no contest. Will try to find out more about that strange event...here is a pic I found:

This is from Mike Marley

Floyd Mayweather must have packed his penchant for being involved in controversial situations in his suitcase.

On a rare trip overseas, the undefeated Mayweather was wearing his promoter's hat an IBF junior welterweight elimination bout in Antwerp, Belgium, where his boxer, Said Ouali, was taking on Lou DiBella handled former world champ and devastating puncher, Randall Bailey.

I spoke to a man who spoke to a man...no, this not a Marley madcap joke...

Anyway, the second man was an eyewitness to the wild mayhem Friday night that ensued and resulted in a highly questionable no contest ruling.

In the opening round, hammer hitter and southpaw slinger Bailey drilled Ouali with a punch or punches which floored Mayweather's protege.

According to the ringsider, a count well beyond 10 seconds, perhaps lasting up to 15 seconds, ensued and Ouali took advantage of the long count to get up to battle on.

In round two, Ouali somehow collided with Bailey's body and seemed to be hit forcefully by the Floridian's shoulder.
Ouali then went flying over the top rope and out of the ring, landing on a scorer's table.

Mayweather's boxer was then given five minutes to revive himself and climb under his own power back into the ring.
It is said that Oulai remained on his back, perhaps feigning injury, perhaps not.

When the five minutes expired, Ouali was removed from the arena on a stretcher.

I asked the man who spoke to the man what Mayweather did in the midst of the furor over the no contest.

"Floyd just smiled, like he knew he got away with something," the man told the man who told me said.

Early word has the Bailey camp protesting both the "long count" and the no contest for obvious reasons.

More details as they come in...
