Why the fuck would I get butthurt about an opinion? It doesn't cost me any money and it doesn't cost you any money.

You don't even know anything about any of the old fighters, you're basically like a 90's baby or some shit. And I'm not gonna go in on bigface because he hasn't got out of pocket with me since he's been back. And 206 is a commie bastard who has the Klitschkos, or however the fuck you spell their names, ranked in the top 100 of all time.:knockout:
Lol! Next you're gonna say I said Calzaghe beat Hopkins and a prime Roy Jones!!

If anyone says that Broner performance was better then Canelo you are smoking crack. Canelo knockdown a prime 154lb undefeated fighter in Trout, was the fight closer then the judge cards he'll yes but Canelo won the fight clearly. Canelo earned the Mayweather fight, remember I said from the gate that Mayweather will fight Canelo, I just didn't think that it was be so soon. Broner should've went to the body early and broke Paulie down. Broner should've did less talking in the ring and more punching. But he did move up 12lb to fight a slick vet and Broner clearly won a close fight 7-5 was my card. Great learning experience for Broner and a good win for Broner at his first fight at 147lb. I'm disappointed that Broner didn't KO him. At the championship level you better do fucking work or someone will steal a fight from you.

That's all I've been saying, but some people think we are just hating on Broner. Canelo got what he wanted, so with all the bullshit going on in boxing, he is good enough to get it. broner on the otherhand, is not gonna get what he wants cuz from 140-147, all the other fools would chew him up and spit him out. He put his body thru too much to go back down to 135, he won't make weight no more. All welterweights will go after him cuz he holds a belt at welterweigt now so he better get ready NOW, cuz his time is coming. And it doesn't matter if it's before or after Canelo looses cuz Canelo is worth WAAAAAAAY more than Broner after a loss.

MAYWEATHER SAYS THERE'S TOO MANY BELTS IN BOXING; "WE REALLY NEED TO CLEAN THIS SPORT UP"
By Ben Thompson | June 24, 2013

"Another thing we really need to clean up in the sport, which I really don't understand, if I beat Miguel Cotto for the WBA championship, I think there's too many belts in the sport of boxing," stated undefeated pound-for-pound champion Floyd Mayweather, who spoke to select members of the media at today's press conference in New York to promote his highly-anticipated September 14 showdown with undefeated jr. middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. While Mayweather touched on a number of subjects, he seemed particularly interested in addressing one of the biggest issues that has plagued the sport of boxing; the confusion surrounding the number of new championship titles that have been created, such as "interim", "super", "regular", and "emeritus". Check out what else he had to say!

FLOYD MAYWEATHER ON THE NUMBER OF TITLES IN BOXING:

We really need to clean the sport of boxing up, because how am I the WBA champion, and then Trout; if I beat Miguel Cotto for the WBA championship, how did Trout beat him for the WBA championship? These are things I just don't understand about what's going on in the sport of boxing. We really need to clean this sport up. I don't have anything against no sanctioning body, but we have to; this is a professional level, so I feel like we should handle business in a professional manner. I feel like there's too many belts out there. If you look at it, Trout's paying the sanctioning fee the same year I'm paying the sanctioning fee. Then you got; then now they saying Canelo's the WBA champion, so I like I said before, I just don't really understand what's going on in the sport of boxing at this particular time. But if I can help, you know, and I know if Richard can help or Leonard can help; they're already doing the best that they can do to clean the sport of boxing up. And so we really need to get the things under control

MAYWEATHER SAYS BRONER IS DANIELSAN AND HE'S MR. MIYAGI; THE STUDENT STILL HAS A LOT TO LEARN
By Ben Thompson | June 24, 2013

"I look at Adrien Broner like Danielsan and I'm Mr. Miyagi. We never seen Danielsan try and go against Mr. Miyagi. And so, you know, I'm proud of Adrien Broner's victory. You know, there's a lot of things he still has to learn. I mean, I think, me personally, I feel that he should've got the knockout," stated undefeated pound-for-pound champion Floyd Mayweather, who shared his thoughts on the recent performance of newly crowned WBA welterweight champion Adrien Broner. While Mayweather is pleased that Broner got the victory, he believes there are still some things that the 23-year-old can improve on.

"I'ma continue to support him. He was flat-footed, and I just feel like with my career, you know, a lot of times, they try to compare the two. You know, I love the kid, but you gotta realize, just look at my career," Mayweather explained as he began to reflect on the level of competition he faced in his early 20's with a select group of media members at today press conference in New York. "I already fought a guy that was so crafty in Genaro Hernandez at 21 years old. I feel like in the sport of boxing now, a lot of these guys are fighting guys that's handpicked, which I understand because this is a business also."

FLOYD MAYWEATHER: "I LOVE TAKING RISKS...NO ONE IN BOXING CAN BEAT ME RIGHT NOW"
By Press Release | June 24, 2013

The most compelling and anticipated fight in boxing is officially set as the sport's No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter, undefeated Eight-Time, Five-Division World Champion Floyd "Money" Mayweather will face undefeated Mexican star and Super Welterweight World Champion Canelo Alvarez in "THE ONE: MAYWEATHER VS. CANELO" on Saturday, Sept. 14 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, live on SHOWTIME PPV®.

The marquee matchup was initially announced by Mayweather via his Twitter account on May 29 setting the sports world abuzz. The bout will be a Super Welterweight World Championship contested for the WBC, WBA Super, WBA and Ring Magazine Super Welterweight World Championships on Mexican Independence Day weekend, one of the two biggest weekends on the boxing calendar. The fight will be promoted by Mayweather Promotions, Golden Boy Promotions and Canelo Promotions.

The event is sponsored by Corona, O'Reilly Auto Parts and Valvoline and will be produced and distributed live by SHOWTIME PPV® beginning at 9:00 p.m. ET/6:00 p.m. PT. The event can be heard in Spanish using secondary audio programming (SAP).

Mayweather, who usually campaigns at 147 pounds, chose the younger and bigger Canelo as his opponent for the second bout of his new contract with Showtime Networks Inc. and its parent company, CBS Corporation.

"I picked Canelo because he deserves the chance and is the best opponent possible for me at this time," said Mayweather, who is coming off of a near shutout win on May 4 over Six-Time and Four-Division World Champion Robert Guerrero. "When I signed my new deal with Showtime and CBS, I said I was going to stay active and fight the best fighters and I am keeping my word. I looked at several different fighters and decided to pick Canelo because he can give me a great fight and one the fans are going to appreciate. Sure it's a risk to fight a guy that is younger and bigger than me, but I love taking risks. Be ready because I'm in fantastic shape and I'm going to train even harder for this fight than I did for my last one. He might be a big, young, strong and talented champion, but my experience and work ethic make me believe that I'm that much better and no one in boxing can beat me right now."

Canelo is coming off of a unanimous decision win over then WBA World Champion Austin Trout in front of a sold-out crowd of nearly 40,000 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas on April 20. The young champion has been soliciting to fight Mayweather for some time and is excited to challenge boxing's best fighter in what could be a career-defining fight for the Mexican superstar.

"I'm ready for the big challenges and now I have to prove it against Floyd Mayweather on September 14," said Canelo. "I said that I wanted to fight the best and here I am in front of the best pound-for-pound fighter, who I respect for his achievements, but on September 14, I will write a new page in boxing history because I'm going to be victorious. This fight is for all of my fans, my family and of course for Mexico because we're fighting on the weekend of Mexico's Independence. I've waited so long for this and my only option is to WIN!"

"It's a done deal and I commend Floyd for selecting Canelo Alvarez as his next challenge," said Leonard Ellerbe, CEO Mayweather Promotions. "Floyd is a great champion who has earned the right to control the destiny of his career. To select a young, strong and bigger opponent in Canelo, who has proven he is at the championship level with his success to date, is just another indication of Floyd's love for the sport and the fans that embrace him every time he steps in the ring. It's his legacy on the line September 14 and I have no doubt that he will be victorious again."

Mayweather: Broner was flat-footed [against Malignaggi]; he has a lot to learn
June 24th, 2013 | Post Comment l Boxing Forum

0 0 0

Broner Malignaggi Broner vs. Malignaggi paulie malignaggi floyd mayweather jr adrien broner By Dan Ambrose: Floyd Mayweather Jr. didn’t sound too impressed with Adrien Broner (27-0, 22 KO’s) in evaluating his 12 round split decision win over Paulie Malignaggi (32-5, 7 KO’s) last Saturday night. Mayweather Jr. says that he thought Broner should have knocked Malignaggi out, and he didn’t like the way he was just standing in front of him. Mayweather Jr. says Broner has got a lot of things he needs to improve on his game.

Mayweather Jr. said to esnewsporting “There’s a lot of things he [Broner] still needs to learn. I thought he should have got the knockout. He was flat-footed. With my career, they try to compare the two, and I love the kid, but you got to look at my career. I had already fought a guy that was crafty at 21 in Genaro Hernandez.”

Mayweather stopped Genaro Hernandez in the 8th round in October 1998, and yes, Hernandez was a crafty fighter and a lot tougher to fight than Malignaggi. Hernandez only lost to Mayweather and a prime Oscar De La Hoya during his career.

This is probably the first time I’ve heard Mayweather Jr. critique Broner. Mayweather Jr. must have been really disappointed in what he saw of him for him to reveal his thoughts about Broner’s victory over Malignaggi.

Mayweather Jr. is right about what he says about Broner fighting flat-footed against Malignaggi and needing to still learn things. Broner was standing directly in front of Malignaggi for the entire fight like his feet were glued to the ground.

It wasn’t Mayweather-like with how he was fighting. If Broner wants to be like Mayweather, he’s going to have to sit down and watch some more of his fights because he didn’t fight anything like Mayweather aside from his use of the shoulder roll.

I don’t know if Broner can apply the things that Mayweather likely wants him to learn, like moving more, not standing in front of his opponents for long periods, throwing combinations. Broner doesn’t look like he’s capable of throwing combinations without needing to stop and catch his breath. He doesn’t seem to have the endurance to do more than throw pot shots. The combination punching that Mayweather does would likely gas Broner out in three or four rounds. And Broner isn’t ever going to be a mover because like Mayweather because he’s light on his feet the way that Mayweather, even at 36.

Mayweather Sr: Canelo will bulk up to 173 like he did last time; it won’t help him
June 24th, 2013 | Post Comment l Boxing Forum

Mayweather Canelo Mayweather vs. Canelo saul alvarez floyd mayweather jr By Dan Ambrose: Floyd Mayweather Sr. thinks WBA/WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (42-0-1, 30 KO’s) will put a ton of weight back on after making weight for his fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. (44-0, 26 KO’s) and come into the fight around 173 lbs, close to the same weight Canelo was in his last fight against WBA junior middleweight champion Austin Trout last April.

Mayweather Sr. doesn’t see Canelo’s huge weight advantage being any help to him against the much faster and much lighter Floyd Jr. on September 14th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mayweather Sr. told thaboxingvoice.com “Last time Canelo was at 173 pounds during his Trout fight. It ain’t going to be no difference. He’s going to bulk up and it’s ok. Will he have more power? Of course he will, but he won’t be the same fighter. He won’t see the shots or be fast enough to counter.”

Mayweather Sr. went on to say that Canelo needs to keep his weight lower for this fight instead of rehydrating up so high like he did last time. However, I don’t think it’s possible for Canelo to come into the fight any lower than 165-166 lbs. because that’s the weight he’s been fighting at mostly after rehydrating.

If Canelo tries to come in lower than that he’ll be taking off muscle to get to that. Canelo is basically a middleweight fighting at junior middleweight still. He can use that middleweight size to beat a lot of welterweights but I don’t see him being able to beat Mayweather by being 20 pounds heavier than him. Canelo will have to get down to 165 and hope that he’s quick enough to compete with Mayweather at that weight.

Golden Boy Promotions negotiated a small catch-weight of 152 lbs. for the fight. When you’re talking only 2 pounds, then that’s not even a catch-weight if you ask me. If Canelo has to struggle to make the 152 then he really needs to move up to middleweight or preferably super middleweight because you’re not a junior middleweight if you can’t make 152 without badly struggling.

In looking at Mayweather Jr. and Canelo posing side by side at today’s press conference in New York, it’s pretty clear that Canelo has a huge weight advantage over Mayweather. I think Canelo looked at least 20 lbs. heavier than Floyd, and it’s going to be interesting to see if the weight will hurt Mayweather.

Mayweather Jr. should have played a little tougher in the negotiations by having a rehydration limit of 160 to make sure Canelo doesn’t go off into the stratosphere when he starts rehydrating. Mayweather Jr. doesn’t need to be fighting a light heavyweight sized Canelo on September 14th.

I’m just wondering what happens with Canelo if his huge weight advantage doesn’t help him for this fight.

ODL also said Pacquiao Mayweather was a done deal, remember that? Truth about Oscar is that he is not involved in making fights at all. It's just his company and he's the face but the people who make the fights and deals are Richard Schaefer, match maker Gomez, etc. Plus Al Haymon is managing both Garcia and Matthysse, if he doesnt want the fight now Golden Boy can't force them. They are the promoter not the manager.

James Kirkland will become a free agent, as his Golden Boy contract extension from 2011 has been ruled invalid. But will any promoter really want to take him on?

James Kirkland finally has his wish, as a judge in Texas has ruled that his promotional contract with Golden Boy is invalid, specifically the 2011 extension to that deal, and the fighter will become a free agent. The question now is, will any notable promoter want to bring him into their stable?

Kirkland, who has served time in jail on more than one occasion, was recently arrested and booked in Texas on charges of violence against his girlfriend. He's had numerous issues outside of the ring over the years, and it was Golden Boy that stepped up and helped him out the last time he got into trouble.

It has been speculated in the past that a new manager or group of advisers had gotten into Kirkland's ear and convinced him to dump pretty much his entire team, from Golden Boy to longtime confidant Pops Billingsley and trainer Ann Wolfe, as well as managers Cameron Dunkin and Mike Miller, who anticipated the move from Kirkland.

At this point, Kirkland hasn't fought since March 2012, when he scored a controversial DQ win over Carlos Molina. He is without question one of the most exciting fighters in the sport, but his unfortunately routine outside the ring issues have made him a 29-year-old non-factor at the moment.

In other words, any company would love to have the James Kirkland who exists between the ropes. But he's unpredictable and seemingly can set his career back any given day. Is he a risk worth taking for someone like Top Rank or Lou DiBella?

Andre Ward confirms officially that he's seeking to terminate his contract with promoter Dan Goossen, saying that Goossen has refused to meet with HBO or his manager.

Andre Ward has put out official word via press release that he's definitely seeking to end his deal with promoter Dan Goossen, saying that the promoter has gotten in the way of his career continuing, and has refused to meet with HBO or his manager, James Prince.

Ward (26-0, 14 KO) hasn't fought since last September. The two are reportedly set to meet with an arbitrator tomorrow.

From the press release:

Andre Ward

"I believe I am in the prime of my professional boxing career. Actions of a California licensed promoter are preventing me from defending my title and pursuing my profession," said Ward. "A boxer has a limited timeframe to earn his livelihood, provide for his family and, let alone, perform at a championship caliber level. Goossen's actions leave me with the possibility of not stepping in to the ring at all in 2013. I respect the privilege of my boxing license and my responsibilities. I have always felt a comfort level boxing under the California Commission Rules, which fairly protect all fighters and ensure that licensed promoters are in full compliance."

"Goossen had various opportunities to meet with HBO, and to interact with my Manager. He refused and otherwise did not respond to my team regarding these important business dealings concerning MY career. I defer to my manager and our attorneys regarding our request to terminate the Promotional Agreement and the blatant violation of specific Commission Rules that are in place to protect boxers from unauthorized actions of licensed promoters. Obviously I feel very strongly about this matter as we are appearing before the California Commission to take action to ensure licensed promoters comply with their rules; and for what is in the best interests of not only my boxing career, but all fighters alike."

James Prince, Manager

"It is absolutely crazy to me that this man would stand in the way of Andre's boxing career and his next title defense, and not respect Andre's request that his co-promoter and manager be part of those discussions. Understandably, HBO did not want to get in the middle of any dispute between Andre's co-promoters or Andre and Goossen; but for this man to refuse to attend a meeting because he wanted to be the only one talking with HBO and have sole control over Andre's career is flat out wrong. There are multiple reasons to terminate the Promotional Agreement with Goossen and we are following proper procedures with our sole objective of always doing what is in the best interests of Andre Ward."
