Yall can say what yall want to, but not havin Brown #1 is the real argument! Thats insane, he is by far he greatest so whatever!! I dont think Payton was beter then none of the guys in my top 5!! I know my shit so yall can say what u want!! but regardless yall lose all dredit not havin Brown 1!! Got Em!!
I can accept Jim Brown as number 1, no problem. But come one man be real, Payton was a sav he did it all ran inside, outside, had speed and moves, power, stiff arm, good receiver, never ran out of bounds. He was a complete back.

Fred Taylor too inconsistent and injury prone? I mean running backs do get hit everytime they touch the ball. Fred Taylor is a hall of fame running back. Didn't he just top 10,000 yards rushing? Fred Taylor is still deep.

OK, so you think Fred Taylor wasn't injury prone throughout his career?

Also, how many Pro Bowls was he in??

He probably did have injuries but I don't think it has anything to do with him not being good. 10 seasons as a running back in the NFL is tough dog...and not only that he topped 10,000 for his career.

And where is Terrell Davis? He should be on this list. I know his career was cut short due to injuries but Terrell was hard. Here's my list:

Barry Sanders
Terrell Davis
Walter Payton
L.T.
You have got to be shitting me...Terrell Davis?

Even if you don't put Jim Brown on your list (which is stupid anyway)...putting Terrell Davis as No. 2 is just idiotic.

I understand this is all opinion...but there are countless other running backs that were better than him.

I am not doubting that the man is tough nor that he is/was a good back. But he can't be put on the same list as the guys in this thread IMO...

It's all good Gimp... you're a cool and real cat so i'll let that idiotic statement slide this time. Look at Terrell Davis' accomplishments dog.

SuperBowl MVP
Regular season MVP
2 SuperBowl Rings
A 2,000 yard season
A playoff record with (I think) 9 straight 100 yard games in the playoffs. Hall of fame stats no matter how short his career was. Was the first to score 3 rushing TD's in a SuperBowl.

Now you name one running back that has Terrell Davis' credentials.

I hear you dog... I was just trying to say that Fred Taylor is underrated... he's still a pretty good back. They got Jones-Drew sharing the load now so Fred can play a few more seasons.

Yeah, Fred Taylor is VERY underrated in the NFL. He always has been. Used to be the most underrated player in the league, now he's a leader and veteran who can still run the ball efficiently. The fact that he's never been to a pro bowl in his career is crazy. But I still wouldn't say that he's on the level that Payton, Brown, Sanders were...

Anybody trying to say Emmitt is even top 5 all-time is an idiot. His numbers are good because of his fuckin line and the fact that teams had to worry about the passing game as well as the running game. It's not like Barry Sanders where everyone focused on him and only him, not to mention Barry had a horrible line. Had he not cut his own career short he would have shitted on Emmitt Smith's records. Emmitt = a little better Shaun Alexander... A product of his O-Line and scheme.

I'm not saying Emmitt was ass, but don't let the stats fool you. He is not a top 5 back all-time. Only a Cowboy fan or somebody who bases their opinions on stats alone would even make an attempt at arguing for Emmitt here. And that's real talk.

Jim Brown.......no question

just look at Joey's lil stat list. Brown is still top 10 in td's an yards...............he hasnt played a down since 1966, an there have been a fuckload of great rb's since he played. the mans stats were real similar to Jerry Rice's

barry walked away for no reason. no injury, was getting paid nicely and walked away. as a kid him and roger craig were my favorites, but now LT is the best to do it. i bet he doesn't quit. i would have loved to place my vote for barry sanders, but football players are not quitters. ill never forgive him for that. he should own all rushing records. but he QUIT.

I remember this dude on Tecmo Bowl, had like 99 in Hitting Power/Breaking Tackles. He was rediculous in that game...

no shit! wasnt that on Super Tecmo Bowl tho? Him & Barry Word, lol

I remember on one of em Bo and Marcus made the Raiders unstoppable

but yeah... Brown, Sweetness, Barry, Emmitt, Faulk, LT in that order

Many great backs. Jim Brown walked away early, which may hurt his cred. Walter Payton and Barry Sanders were sick back then. Current top back would still be L.T. A.P. of the Vikings is already starting to break into the NFL. Hopefully he stays health.
