Yeah Cotto has gotten better. Well maybe I shouldn't say he's overrated... I mean he is undefeated and he's been tested by Zab and Sugar Shane and he beat them both. So let me take back that comment about him being overrated. But I still say Gomez is going to pull off the upset. How do they measure up? I've been trying to find their height and reach. I know Gomez is taller but who has the reach advantage?

The height/reach advantage is small, but in theory it could help out Alfonso, IF he was good with the jab and creating distance, which he isn't really good at. He goes forward. Always. That's his style, he gets in close and trades shots. He doesn't really know how to create space and use his hight/reach to his advantage. Sometimes he does in little spurts here and there, but he always gravitates back to going inside. That's just who he is.

And cotto is kinda short anyways and typically is the shorter guy in the ring, which a few exceptions. Recent wins over:
Shane Mosley:
5′ 9″
74“

Carlos Quintana:
5′ 9½″
72“

I lump Gomez in with guys like Feliciano, who he had a few great fights with... guys that will give any one problems, but eventually don't have what it takes to beat the best of the best. They're probably right outside of the top 10 of best welterweights, whereas Cotto is generally recognized as the 2nd best in the division. The division is the deepest in talent, but I think there's a big difference between 2 and 10-15.

yeah I cracked myself with that Zoolander shit, haha.

But I'm starting to like Cotto a bit, I've been trying really hard to look past the eyebrow thing. I mean, he's Puerto Rican and I'm pretty sure it's a Law that you must shape your eyebrows. Just look at the Kermit Cintron/Margarito pic. Kermit's eyebrows/beard are all nicely shaped, whereas the Mexican Margarito looks like a damn rapist!!! haha

man I think that's the toughest looking gomez I've ever seen. He looks like a different person! Like he aged 5-10 years and got mean. lol, I don't know, I think he's really trained his ass off for this fight. Cotto looks a lil drained too. Might be more competitive than I original thought.

The thing thats great about Cotto is that he always seems to do just enough to pull out a win, and his vulnerability in the ring is something that I really love. Like when he fought Torres, the Colombian dude, he was so close to losing...it was heart that brought him back in that fight, and what eventually helped him win that fight.

I think its like a Rocky type effect, you know...Rocky used to get the shit kicked out of him ( I know Cotto doesn't ) but he always found a way to pull out the win with heart.

Just my .02

But I think it will be a closer fight that anticipated, Gomez has a pretty good jab that if he uses, he can give Cotto some problems.
