Android version of Mozilla Fennec pictured on Nexus One and DROID

Not a heck of a lot to report on this one, but a picture is worth a thousand words, no? The Mozilla team has posted a couple teasers pictures, on their Facebook page, of the Fennec mobile browser running on the HTC Nexus One and Motorola DROID. No word on a release time line or when a public build of the mobile Mozilla offering will be available to the masses. We’ve got the DROID picture queued up for you after the break.

OTA update turns Motorola CLIQs into bricks

If you never got around to installing this weeks software update on your Motorola CLIQ, you might want to hold off for at least a few days as it appears that update 1.3.18 has a tendency to break more than it fixes. So far as we can tell, the most common issues have to do with the inability to log into MOTOBLUR, SMS-related lagging and crashing, spotty Bluetooth connectivity, dimming displays, virtual keypad issues and, perhaps most bizarrely, having the devices date and time set to 7PM, 31 December 1969 (aka “0″ in Linux Land). Both T-Mobile and Motorola have not put out an official statement on the matter, but here is what an official T-Mobile forum mod had to say:
“Hi Everybody!

Thanks everyone for informing us on what the latest Motorola Cliq OTA update has brought to light. We want to let everyone know that we have been reading your comments, and we hear you. We have forwarded your concerns to the appropriate people and are working hard on them.

As of now, we advise you not to Master Reset your phone if your OTA update did not download or if you are experiencing issues at this time.

Thank you for using the T-Mobile forums and we will keep you updated as we gather more information.”

I'm in a dilemma. Today I get my BB 9700 from T-Mo which I have to ship out (bought at discount and sold on eBay because I couldn't get the Nexus discounted), buuuuuuuuuuuuuuut while the Nexus was fun, the messaging just sucks and there's no UMA (not a big deal, but it's def a negative). My 8900 just murders this N1 in messaging, plus this battery drains just by looking at it!

I think I'm going to return it and keep the BB 9700.

Are you running the live wallpapers? Have you looked into what exactly is killing the battery
Nope and I've turned off everything and killed all apps all the time. I used it half as much as my BB and was at 50% before lunch at work. Even if I do master the battery usage, users are only getting a days use or so. My 8900 lasted 2-3 days and the 9700 should be even better.

The battery is a big negative, but the bigger negative is the text messaging, email, IM's etc. That's what I mainly use on my phone and the BB annihilates this.

The Nexus does have a better browser, media viewing, and screen of course, but I think I'm going to go with the BB.

Apple sues HTC for patent infringement, heightens Android showdown

Apple is getting more protective of its intellectual property, announcing a new patent infringement lawsuit against smart phone manufacturer HTC.

In a statement, Apple said it filed the suit against HTC for infringement of 20 patents dealing with the iPhone. Two complaints were filed concurrently in U.S. International Trade Commission and in U.S. District Court in Delaware.

"We can sit by and watch competitors steal our patented inventions, or we can do something about it. We've decided to do something about it," said Apple CEO Steve Jobs, in a statement. "We think competition is healthy, but competitors should create their own original technology, not steal ours."

you think apple will win? i mean these are companies from two different countries. thats like saying ford owns the right to all automobiles.

(When Steve Jobs unveiled the iPhone, he touted its multitouch screen, then said, "And boy, have we patented it.")
