I don't think Berto's "stock" went up at all. Collazo already did a number on him, now Ortiz made him look like complete shit. Again, I don't think Berto was all there. Not taking way from Ortiz because I was pulling for him, but Berto didn't bring his A game. He was exhausted the entire way through. Also, what's up with his brother yapping in his ear the whole time? The trainer is trying to give Berto instruction and his brother is going "ya, ya, you need to do this". I'm sure trainers don't really enjoy family members in the corner.

Ortiz did prove a lot of people wrong. Congrats to him.

Where does Berto go from here? Back to looking good against lesser fighters I guess...

Also, I'm glad Floyd kept standing up and clapping. Good thing he at least appreciates other people putting it on the line.

Yeah Bertos stock went down no doubt about that. Anybody with a good workrate can beat the guy. Seems to me those knockdowns did take a lot out of him in the first round. Ortiz surprised everyone with his aggressiveness. I cant stand all the holding though. Last 6 rounds were boring.

Thanks to the fucking ref. If you paid attention to the the holding, they would work out of it and end up in a vicious exchange, but the last 6 rounds Ortega seemed to become a 3rd man in the ring which always pisses me off.

I'm glad Berto lost. Now he's forced to earn the things that he's been handed for a portion of his career, that is ------a rep / a belt / a fat pay day. I'm confident that he can earn all three to be honest. Ortiz is a heavy puncher. Berto lost, but now he can move on to more Entertaining fights, against Cintron, mosley, Alexander, Maidana etc. etc.

that fight was awesome.

And I just want to say to TONY I told you berto wasn't on the same level as pacquiao his defense is terrible the only defense he has is to clinch no head movement at all. He's been fighting 140 pounders without much power for a reason and Ortiz exposed every flaw that he has.

Ortiz fought like a man tonight. He showed heart, killer instinct, determination, everything a young fighter should have. He definately redeemed himself.

great fight.

I'm not exactly happy he lost, But I always told folks I thought Berto was over rated. Wasn't seasoned enough. Paper champ with a heavy hand. You can tell the Ref favored him, Just for the sake of Boxing. Not too many untarnished records out there with interest. On a side note, I'm loving Mayweather's fake little smile going as the house booooed the shit out of him. I think he'll be getting in the ring with Pac if he beats Mosley. Just a prediction.

some people did overrate berto a lot, others have been pretty critical of him late for his choice opponents. Here are some great Tony quotes:

Tony said:
And yeah they're scared of Berto..... that's the best fighter out there in the Welterweight division who has a belt. You wanna sit up and drink Arum's kool aid, please quit it. They're just trying to under sell Berto like he's a nobody because they know it's a high risk/low reward fight. Berto has all the tools to give Manny fits but team Pac would rather wolf about someone who's not even interested in fighting.

Tony said:
Ortiz is going to get knocked out by Berto. Berto ain't no joke, that's why Arum and team Pacquiao keep looking past him. Miss me with "who is Berto", "who has Berto fought" excuses. They want no part of Berto because all it takes is one punch to end the fight and Pacquiao is known for getting KTFO

Team Pacquiao is scared of Berto, period!

lol, Tony likes to over do it. Berto was exposed in the Collazo fight. Would have been interesting to see how he would of done against Mosley. Hes probably gonna fight a noname his next fight. Where can he go from here? Try and fight Chavez Jr. lol?

how far do you think berto drops in the welterweight ratings? It just occurred to me that since he lost, if mosley over takes berto's spot pac vs shane could #1 & #2 (since floyd will be dropped in May for inactivity) which would make the fight for The Ring belt. thoughts?
