and i said that he Sandoval will NEVER have game changing defense at 3B or 20-30 stolen bases at any given time in his career................therefore he willnever be better than Wright...............even his he exceeds all expectations his hittingwill at best be EVEN with Wright..........but wright is still off the charts higher than Sandoval in plus speed and plus plus defense.....
as for Pujols Sandoval will NEVER put up Pujols type numbers.............therefore he CANT be the best 1B in baseball.........get the poing................
Im just curious what type of ethos you think you have passing judgement on a 22 year old player that has done everything except tear the cover off the ball with his bat and made quite a few nice stops at both 3B and C? You say Sandoval will NEVER have game changing defense. How the hell do you know that? I've seen Sandoval make a number of nice plays. Hes got quick feet and decent mobility. Some of his best plays aren't physique or astetically pleasing; he knocks down balls and keeps them in the infield and he blocks balls guys normally dive for like a catcher. He plays three positions. Can Wright play catcher? How long do you think Wrights speed and mobility holds up until he can't play "game changing" 3B and steal 30 bags?
While he speed is questionable, and I don't expect him to be a demon on the bases, what type of statement is that that he will NEVER be better than David Wright because, at 22, you're absolutely positive he'll never have "game changing defense" and steal 20-30 bags?
2009 STATS
Sandoval .336 AVG 11HR 39RBI 33R 2SB
Wright .339 AVG 4HR 40RBI 48R 20SB
Don't forget the Giants offensive woes and constant reshuffling of the batting order which certainly effects Sandovals R's and RBI's.
Wright has been playing 6 years. Sandoval less than a year and a half. Wright is a hell of a player. I'd love to have him on my team. But Sandoval is 22. He's played 109 games. That's just not enough to say he can't ever be better than Wright. He's certainly towing the line as a rookie in just about everything except SB, and in fact, has a higher FPCT (while Im sure playing C might skew that).
I just don't understand where you are coming from with all these absolutes regarding Sandoval, when he's played 109 games and he's 22 years old. If he keeps his weight under control, he has the potential to be a big time player for quite sometime. Its tough to live up to a bill of David Wright, but one thing they both have is outstanding talent, and I think at 24 or 25 its a bit easier to identify whether or not someone can live up to a bill like Wright.
