Comms System Engineer sounds like it would be cool.

As infantry you just work a normal day job Monday through Friday off at 5PM unless you're at a training exercise.

If you ever deploy there's phones and internet set up. Infantry will usually go out in to the middle of nowhere for a week or two and then come back to the camp with the phones and internet while another squad switches out with them doing the Rambo shit.
Damn so infantry isn't a full time job?

The thing with the military is, at least in the US, if you ain't deployed or you ain't out in the field training (which you don't do often) you're sitting around not doing anything collecting a check. They will literally create work just to get people off their asses like going down to storage containers and pulling out all of the equipment and cleaning it and shit like that lol

It's seriously the easiest job ever. Day would consist of

6:30AM-7:30AM - Exercise with the unit

7:30AM-9:00AM - Shower and breakfast time

9:00AM-11:30AM - Stand around and bullshit or do some made up busy work

11:30AM-1:00PM - Hour and a half lunch

1:00PM-5:00PM - Stand around and bullshit or do some made up busy work

That's your Monday through Friday, granted there would be some hectic days like getting ready for big training exercises or getting our shit ready for deployments where we would spend a week working 12 hour days and actually working hard, but it wasn't often.

That's the US Army though, I have no idea how the UK Army is, I would assume it's just as chill if not even more chill. All of the soldiers from the UK, Canada, NZ and Australia I met over the years seemed to be way more relaxed and chill than us lol we were the hard ass, take it too seriously people and our shit is actually pretty chill overall.

Like I said, put your ego to the side, just listen and do what you're told, be at the right place at the right time and you'll be fine.

The shit is pretty brainless, you don't even have to think for yourself most of the time lol your Sergeant will tell you what you gotta do for the day, where to be etc. Just show up and get paid basically.

Yeah you say you trained for 12 weeks for infantry, over here it says its 26 weeks so maybe its less intensive or something, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I take it you get to socialize with soldiers from other countries while your deployed. Shit sounds like a blast.

I don't know how basic training is in the UK, but here they try and mentally break you. You just gotta realize those Drill Sergeants are literally actors playing characters lol most of them didn't even want to be Drill Sergeants, they get assigned it and then get taught how to be dickheads.

They'll just fuck with you, scream in your face, exercise you until you can't do anymore etc.

Just keep it in the back of your head that "this shit is temporary, it sucks for a few weeks, but these guys are basically cartoon characters made to scare me".

Don't know if the UK has Drill Sergeants like we have though.

Yeah I'm pretty sure we do, I'm pretty sure they're all Scottish lol.

Being mentally broken doesn't sound fun tho, but like you said it only lasts a short while. And that way maybe I can man up and quit being such a bitch.
