And how long do you train for before you start doing real shit. In the movies and shit you always see muscular dudes enlisting and I'm hella fat and shit lol. Could I still enlist and they would get me into shape first or would I be trained for a certain period and then go to battle as is? Or could they just completely refuse me altogether?
I know its probably different over here but thatll give me an idea.

For the US Army we did 8 weeks of intense basic training with the drill sergeants yelling at you and all that shit, you get in crazy good shape during those 8 weeks. Then after we do this thing called AIT which is where you learn your job, it lasts depending on what you pick for a job. If you're Infantry they just tack on 4 more weeks of basic training basically. If you go to a technical field it could be up to a year of training learning your job.
They don't usually turn down overweight people, cause they get you in shape, if you're insanely overweight though they'll tell you to come back when you get in better shape.
No idea how it works in the UK though, you could probably check out a recruitment website.
One piece of advice I'd give anyone joining the military is check your ego. You're going to have dumb people telling you to do dumb shit you don't want to do. A lot of people fail in the military cause they can't put their ego to the side.
It's the easiest job in the world if you do what you're told and be in the right place at the right time.
Decent paycheck, free place to live, free meals, can't really beat it if you don't have anything else going for you.

If I wanted I could apply for a position as royal guard, but I dont want to dress like an idiot and stand around while tourists point at me.
I'm thinking about infantry right now. Still not 100% decided if the army's for me but if I can't contribute locally due to a lack of jobs I might as well fight for the country.

I wouldn't suggest infantry personally. Why go infantry when you can get skills to better yourself?
I wasted 4 years in Combat Arms doing Field Artillery and all that got me was shot at in Afghanistan and no job skills. I spent the next 4 years doing IT work working with routers, switches, satellite terminals and all kinds of cool shit and got a good skill set and got way cooler missions.

A logistic supply specialist sits in an office and hands out shit to soldiers lol
Or when a unit goes on a field training exercise supply are the people who makes sure they have cots to sleep on, food ordered, toilet paper stocked up etc.
Boring job with lots of paperwork, but it would set you up with logistics experience for after you got out of the Army.

Comms System Engineer sounds like it would be cool.
As infantry you just work a normal day job Monday through Friday off at 5PM unless you're at a training exercise.
If you ever deploy there's phones and internet set up. Infantry will usually go out in to the middle of nowhere for a week or two and then come back to the camp with the phones and internet while another squad switches out with them doing the Rambo shit.
