http://losangeles.dodgers.mlb.com/s...ubFrame=2008&timeSubFrame=2008&sortByStat=ERA

we got the top ERA in the NL.

2nd best in MLB!!! what so bad about that?

ERA is the best indicator of how good a pitching staff is, just in case you didnt know!!

oy ya and we are pretty good in K's also

ERA ranked #2 behind Oakland in MLB, #1 in the NL
K's ranked #5 behind Giants (only 43 K's back of SF)
runs and earned runs #2 behind Oakland
Shutouts ranked #3 behind Boston and Indians (they have 11 Dodgers have 10)
Hits allowed ranked #8 behind Oakland,
HR's allowed ranked #1 just 80

are you still LOL at the Dodgers Staff??? thats ok we are way up there. but thats ok you guys lead in K's, but your also near the top in (#4) in walks allowed, (#16) in Earned Runs allowed and ERA, #9 ranking in HR's allowed (99)

But the Dodgers are in the same division as the Giants and Padres who can't score for shit and can't hit homeruns. Wow big fuckin deal.

i aint mad for shit.. our team is on rebuild status, we're a team thats going to be a contender for years in the near future, while your team is basically what ours was the past 4 years.. a team put together to win now.

A little news:

A New York Mets official is following the Giants and has submitted a recommendation to acquire Rich Aurilia. The Brooklyn native is likely one of the first names the Giants submitted through waivers; if so, he would clear on Tuesday.

Also, it's time Velez goes down again (or Roberts gets DFA'd)...
1B Travis Ishikawa (AAA) is KILLING the ball right now. In the last 10 games: .361 AVG 3 2B 1 3B 7HR 14RBI , he now has 21HR 86RBI this season..

Interesting, so if Aurilia goes that means Bowker will have to step up defensively at the end of games. Is Frandsen coming back this season?

So how did the Dodgers get Manny Ramirez for peanuts? I guess the Giants didn't want to deal with another Barry Bonds-like situation. But fuck, Manny has always been a good hitter.

We signed Conor Gillaspie (37th pick overall):

"WICHITA, Kansas, August 4, 2008 – The only Shocker baseball player drafted this year yet to sign is Conor Gillaspie. He’s held out the majority of the summer to get the best deal from the Giants he possibly can.

He now has the deal he’s been looking for. Gillaspie will board a plane Monday morning to travel to Arizona where he will sign a pro contract with the San Francisco Giants.

The 37th pick overall will receive slot money for that pick, which is around $975,000 along with other un-disclosed incentives. That was the deal-maker enticing the Shocker All-American to sign.

Gillaspie will begin his pro career in rookie ball for the first few weeks. The Giants plan to give him work at both second and third base before the season comes to an end."

team put together to win now?

over 35 guys that need to win now are Kent (last year), Garciaparra (last year), and Manny (last year), Casey Blake (last year).

under 25 core players are Loney, Kemp, Eithier, Broxton, Billingsley, Kershaw, Young, Hu, Martin, Wade, Penny (27?), Dewitt. <---ya that looks lke a team that is supposed to win now

4 first round draft picks for next year in case we dont sign Manny and Casey Blake and lose them to free agency, and that in addition to our regular 1st round picks?

you guys have little talent in the minors. no difference makers. other than a 16 year old you guys signed. that stil needs to prove himself......he can end up anywhere from an A/S type player to a regular joe.

ochoa is like an exact vizquel but younger and faster.
i havent seen him play much, are you trying to say is that Ochoa has HALL OF FAME type defense? but is faster and younger.

or do you mean he is slightly better than Omar at this point in his aging career? if you meant this one than that doesnt say much for Ochoa that he is slightly better than a 45 year old former elite SS that should have retired a couple years ago

Apparently the Red Sox gm initiated the trade 2 hours before the deadline. Basically the Dodgers were just sitting around and got a call from Theo with a great deal and ran with it.

yeah hes good, but theyre not going to be able to afford a whole lot of other players of his caliber.. and hes 36.
lol, ya we cant afford other players of Manny's caliber because we dont lead the league in tickets sold every year, and have HUGE stadium payments to make (LOL)

LOL, its a win-win situation for the Dodgers.

the rest of Manny's 2008 salary is paid for by Boston. dodgers dont pay a dime.

Dodgers gave up LaRoache (always injured and hasnt proven he can hit at the MLB level in 150 AB's) and Morris a former 1st round draft pick (07) that just came off of tommy John Surgery.

and on top of that if we dont sign Manny to next year and lose him through free agency to another team. guess what???? we get 2-1st round conpensation picks for him!!!!
