Apparently the Red Sox gm initiated the trade 2 hours before the deadline. Basically the Dodgers were just sitting around and got a call from Theo with a great deal and ran with it.
or there was a short list of prospect that the Pirates were interested in obtaining and LaRoache and Morris were on that list. so Epstein had to get the dodgers in on it to move Manny.

Isnt it nice to have spare prospect to deal. its nice to have a great scouting team. Logan White is probly the most valuable member of Dodger Mamagement

you guys have little talent in the minors. no difference makers. other than a 16 year old you guys signed. that stil needs to prove himself......he can end up anywhere from an A/S type player to a regular joe.

Dodgers gave up LaRoche (always injured and hasnt proven he can hit at the MLB level in 150 AB's)
I'm going to say it again, 150 AB's is nowhere near enough to gauge how a player will perform at the MLB level (especially since it was even in one season).

actually i missed tim alderson who should project as a #2 type pitcher. funny thing is alderson has the 2nd highest ERA of all the guys you lsited, yet he is the highest rated pitcher in the minds of many scouts.

and like i said earlier. to give up LaRoache for MANNY, even if its only a 2 month rental is worth it because even if things dont pan out and we dont sign him we will recieve 2 1st Round Draft Picks for him

i havent seen him play much, are you trying to say is that Ochoa has HALL OF FAME type defense? but is faster and younger.

or do you mean he is slightly better than Omar at this point in his aging career? if you meant this one than that doesnt say much for Ochoa that he is slightly better than a 45 year old former elite SS that should have retired a couple years ago
well he's got a stronger arm than vizquel ever had in his career, ive watched them closely and you could say its vizquel jr. they look almost the same.. not very big, theyre both from venezuela.. even broke in his glove just like vizquel, guess it was his childhood idol.

but yeah you guys did come up on that manny deal, boston got fucked lol.

I just woke up from knockin out, it looks like Cain had another solid ass outing, but instead of getting no run support he actually got enough to win. And Wilson saved the game again, but 1-2-3.

numbers dont mean too much in ther minors

Clayton Kershaw, LHP, ERA/4.02, IP/53.2, BB/29, K/43
Scott Elbert, LHP, ERA/2.53, IP/32.0, BB/17, K/29

Do those numbers look like a difference maker? well he is in MLB right now and just turned 20 years old. here are his 07 numbers in MiLB as a 18 year old

KERSHAW '07 (LO-A &AA), ERA/2.95, IP/122, BB/67, K/163
ELBERT, '07 (AA), ERA/3.86, IP/14.0, BB/10, K/24

as you can see i am not just throwing guys out with decent numbers. red font are difference makers. are they always the guys with the best numbers? no. they are the guys age 20 playing AA or 22 at AAA. they are the guys that in 3 years could be difference makers. guys in blue are guys that are good prospects but wont change games on their own.

as always just my opinion

They DO, but you also have to take into consideration age, level of competition, if they are repeating a level, etc.

The players that I noted have proven themselves at every level they've played at...

vizquels hands were/are so fuckin fast he doesnt need a strong arm.

yup true, but if you have a strong arm or quick hands it all evens out. This guy made a nice play the other night against SD, he took a ground ball in the shallow outfield, ran to 2nd himself.. and threw to first for a double play.. there was no time to underhand it to 2nd even tho burriss was there covering but had his back to first.

To your guys' previous discussion. Giants don't have the best pitching. Maybe the most promising starting rotation, but overall.. no way. If Zito pitched the way we had hoped and Lowry was healthy things might look a little different right now. As it stands we have 2 ACE pitchers in Cain and Lincecum. Sanchez has great potential but slips often; good strikeout pitcher though. Zito is, well, you know. And Lowry is pretty good. Correia is just a filler. Other teams like the Cubs and Dodgers have depth all the way to the end of the game, and of course the hitting to give their pitchers the extra edge.

true, 10am games are early. But yeah how did Lincecum pitch today? Did Wilson have drama at the end again?
Lincecum was a little shaky early on, but he came on stronger towards the end of the game, final line 8IP 2ER 4BB 8K ...Wilson had a 1-2-3 9th...
