they have been playing well, but you also have to look at the other teams in their division... only one other team above .500

you've got cleveland and detroit in your league, you have chicago not playing all too well... even minnesota isn't playing well, even though they are playing .506 ball
Yeah, but in the past few years we couldn't even beat up on our own shitty division.

We were a goddam 100 loss team last season. This is a great improvement.

If we go to the playoffs, and lose to the first non-AL Central team we play, I won't be upset. I'll just look forward to next year. The success they're experiencing this year is key to re-building fan support in KC. I suspect that at the end of the season, if you compare this season's home game attendance figures to last season's, this season will blow away last season.

Doh. Just realized it was you that posted this. Are you a Cards fan? You really have no room to talk about the strength of one's division if so. And, let's not forget, the Royals split w/ the Cards this season...

i hate alot of teams. the royals are hard to hate cause theyve never really pissed anyone off .

That's why I hate them.....they seem too "wholesome". You're not supposed to have a team full of players who are "good people" as well. Where is the Joey aka Albert Belle's and the Jose Canseco's of the Royals?

I can see it now....KC STAR HEADLINES: ROYALS' SWEENEY CAUGHT KICKING DOG

And that whole attack on the 1st Base coach last year makes it even worse. They sure do get the sympathy vote.

I'm still waiting for Alaird Baird to sell off the high priced players for a 2 year supply of twinkies and a case of Michalob Ultra.

we are doin very well...againts opponents NOT in our division....
Well.... not really. We're doing FANTASTIC against teams in our division. We're 29-9 in the AL Central. No one in the majors has an in-division record that good.

Now, we look outside the division... 6-13 against the East, 3-9 against the West.... those are losing records my friend. Now, we had a slump in May. The question is, were we in a slump just because we were in a slump? Or, were we in a slump because we were playing AL East and AL West teams and they're better than us?

Time will tell. I'm hopeful we can maintain our success for the rest of the season. But, realistically, all we've really proven so far is we can DOMINATE the AL Central.

Like I said in my other post, there's no need to poo-poo that. It's a hell of an accomplishment. Last year we had a losing in-division record. We had 100 losses overall. We couldn't even beat up on our own shitty division.

like i said... royals have talent... just not as not as much as it may appear appear... how sweet would it be for a 70 series for the world series... Royals vs. Cards :)
While a second World Series victory over the Cards would definitely be the most satisfying.... the selfish part of me would much rather see Royals v. D'Backs... then I could go to a couple games.

I wouldnt worry about those twins......it's the white sox you have to look over your shoulder at. Just acquired Alomar and Everett...oh boy!
I'm not ready to cast aside the Twins yet. Yes, they've kinda been falling down as of late... but, like you said, there's 162 games. Teams are gonna have hot streaks and cold streaks. IMO, right now both the Sox and the Twins are a threat right now.

Nonetheless, the Royals can't be looking over their shoulder at anyone. They need to focus on winning games.

the d-bakcs will mopp up any team for the rest of the season. just watch
The D'Backs have DEFINITELY turned it on as of late. Things were looking grim there for awhile.

There's some interesting parallels between the D'Backs and Royals right now. W/ all the D'Backs injuries, they've got so many rookies playing right now, they might as well be a small market team. Neither of these teams should be doing what they're doing right now. It's all just 100% heart.

Past years... this would probably be happening. Right now they're actually trying to acquire some players for the second half.

Amazing what a touch of success will do.

all my bashing of the Royals aside.....it's been fun to watch a few games at kaufman this year. It's a beautiful park and its great to see a city back a sports team like the Royals. They are bringing in an average of 5,000 people more per game compared to last year......i think that was the expos average home attendance last year.

ROFL I remember reading some quote from an Expos player last season when they were playing either Florida or Tampa (I can't remember) anyway, he looked around the stadium before the game and said "Wow, looks like they're running the same promotion here they do in Montreal: dress up like an empty seat, and get in free."

at least there are 3 teams in our division over .500. our division is a lot tougher than detroit and cleveland.

What I want to know is......how do the royals let Maple Woods product Albert Pujols slip through their fingers and land in St Louis?

MW is one of the better JUCO Baseball programs around.....shame on the royals for letting the former Ft Osage and MW tallent goto St Louis.

as for a repeat of 85... not gonna happen... everyone knows the only reason royals won is because that botched call at 1st base.... every bar in the StL has that picture hanging up telling the truth
