The pageantry surrounding the "Kimbo Slice" character is the charade. What don't you understand about that?

I'd look at this differently if Kevin Ferguson didn't appear to be trying to take the sport seriously. At the same time, he'd be an idiot not to try to capitalize on the character. If people are going to buy into it, that's not his fault by any means. I mean shit, people buy J-Lo albums and even she knows she can't sang, lol ...

The people that bought into it based solely on clips from youtube are just as responsible for how they're feeling now (if they're mad). Also, don't underestimate the fact that there are people out there that just happen to like a good story. From youtube to primetime is a good story to some people.

When words like charade and sham get tossed around, it's implied that there was intentional deception somewhere. You're a moron if you assumed that Kimbo could magically come from youtube into MMA and dominate.

OK people, where are the 99% of the punches that missed? Cuz from what I see, they all hit. And Kimbo was not covering up or defending in any way. That's why the fight was stopped, and it was a good call.

Any Given Saturday Night. It took me by surprise that Kimbo got caught with one so early in the fight. Ive always questioned Kimbo's chin after those rumors saying that Forrest Griffin KO'd Kimbo. Kimbo's first loss Im sure he'll learn from that. Kimbo has a good head on his shoulders and with the right people still behind him he'll be able to win a few more fights. I still want to see him and bret rogers go at it.

Ill pay money to have Gina Carano slap me in a triangle....

After watching this fight a zillion times, does anyone have any idea what Kimbo was doing before he got caught? What was he trying to throw there?

What makes Kimbo a charade though?

Is it:

A) Because he got knocked out by a dude with pink hair who was half climbing the fence of the cage in fear of his life.

or:

B) Because he rushed in and left his chin exposed (like a lot of upper echelon fighters have in the past mind you - won't name names) and got caught (again like a lot of upper echelon fighters have in the past)

By no means am I saying Kimbo is in the upper echelon of MMA fighters... BUT... This type of fight happens ALL THE TIME.

The only thing that strikes me as odd is going back to that one youtube video where Kimbo was LETTING that dude who was huger than him crack him in the jaw multiple times ... hard. What happened to that chin? Was big dude not catching him on the "button" and Petruzelli did?

The fact that there are tons of people, especially on this site, who seem to think that Kimbo is an elite fighter who can destroy anything that steps in his path, and that includes real elite fighters in MMA.

Actually if you knew anything about MMA (which it is obvious you don't) that was a defensive move. If you notice he blocks Kimbo's punch with his leg and then knocks him with the jab.

I don't understand why a lot of people are saying Kimbo's career is 'done'.

He got caught, and that was it. Happens to a lot of fighters, especially in MMA.


People are still going to tune in (regardless of what organization he's fighting for) just because its Kimbo.

This guy is still very green in the sport, and has a long way to go. I just don't get why he is being written off by everyone. I can't really think of too many MMA fighters who are undefeated.

I'm still a fan of his because he's humble and shows a lot of respect to the fighters and to the sport.

Well that's the whole thing - he got beat by a nobody (a gay dude at that!). He got floored by a JAB!! I don't think he he will have nearly as many fans prior to getting KO'd. It's a VERY embarrassing loss. If say, Mike Tyson got KO'd by some bum on his rise up, his popularity wouldn't have been the same. People thought he was invincible, that was a big part of his appeal. People tuned in to see something extraordinary. But after his loss to douglas/prison/etc. he was able to keep his popularity because people tuned in because he was an absolute psychopath, lol, and also probably because they hoped they would see a return of his old self. Kimbo has neither of those - he has no accomplishments in the sport and isn't a psycho. Only thing about Kimbo that's appearing is he LOOKS like a psycho.
