Theres 250, well educated people that work here that have degrees and shit. Theres people that have been here 40+ yrs. no cancer. So you're making ignorant statements that you really have no clue about. I dont breath shit, I run the whole plant from a control room. It's a good proffession for anybody that wants to get paid. I'm not knocking anybody that chooses to get educated and go to collage, I hope my kids go to collage, but I also hope they dont spend 4 yrs in college and go make 40-50k a year, feel me?

"No, I didn't go to college, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night." - Texas Back Tattoo CEO

@ JLMACN, Enserio, Cranky, Greg, Lisa, and others: Great words for the youth on here. There's many, many on here...it's a damn shame they know it all, and we (you) don't. Best of luck.

I'm still in high school, but how is college gonna help me? I don't wanna major in "Medicine, Law, Engineering, Architecture, Biology, Chemistry, Pharamcist."

Teach me ART? good one, if I didn't spend time in school I would have plenty of time for that.

Connections? Why should I pay 100 racks for connections when it costs less to just get out there.

I figure instead of being broke for 4 years for college, why not be broke FOR AS LONG AS I LET MYSELF BE.

SMOKE1320, I would be careful. They didn't know about asbestos for a long time. They didn't know about a lotta chemicals and other things that are bad for you until a while later. They never told anyone, and they might not have even known. I guarantee you, only 20 years from now they are gonna find SO MANY chemicals that fuck us up. And we're using em right now. They don't give a shit about us, so look out for yourself.

Even though I dropped out of college there are positive things you can learn in college that will help you in all sorts of careers. For one, I got to be around students from all over the world when i was in school and you learn how to deal with all different types of people. I even had a prince in one of my classes from like somewhere near the Middle East or some shit. I also strengthened my writing skills tremendously in college. I know how to read between the lines and I can write as good as anyone. Knowing how to write is a very important skill that noone can take from you.

Like Autistic said, not only will you get a formal education but you'll interact with people you normally wouldn't on an everyday basis. This will help you interact with your future co-workers because they'll be very similar to your college classmates.

When you pick your major, it should be based on interest and job opportunity. I picked my major in Accounting because of the job opportunities without factoring interest. I'm now a staff accountant just crunching numbers all day long and sort of rethinkin my career already.

get a part-time job or get financial aide to assist you...

^^^in some fields, yes.........my buddy only got his aa, and he works in a wharehouse, making as much as me.....

The medicial field as well, my buddy went through an 18 month course on how to operate a certain piece of machinery, and he is making MORE than me, for right now anyway.

we are in two completely different field JL, and there are field where you dont need a masters, or even a bachelors to do well......

My thoughts on it though, especially in the Business world, i dont ever want to hit a ceiling. I dont want to get denied a promotion because i am missing that piece of paper. $ is good now, but i look at the future, and what kind of $ will I be making 10 years from now, and what can I do to put myself in that position.

I congradulate you on your success, and pursuit of education.
