KIDS PAY ATTENTION

The paragraph (not really) above is a very good demonstration as to why you should stay in school and get en education. This kid has no idea what he is talking about!

i know what iam talking about.lets dig a little deeper..real money is in stocks and bonds.iam in community college, passed my real estate class last semester aswell as my electrical engineering class,i can go get my state licenece anytime, but i want to get my brokers instead, loser. majoring in music recording arts. i know alot about business,i dont wanna be stuck trying to climb somebody elses corporate ladder,id rather just start my own and employ my own staff, things are not that difficult.

worked retail for bout 2years,had to get that experience so when i start my own wholesaling compan i will kno how it is for the workers.im an investment in myself.School is over rated granted if you know how to guide yourself through life. different strokes...some people start college.. choose a major..then drop they major because they dont know if they wanna keep on with it or not, then they find theyself always choosing different courses...i have a set plan,i kno what to take and what not to take...my career wil be in music and retail, ceo status..

I got a degree in Business - Management, and I work as a P & C Underwriter for an Insurance company. Degree didn't have shit to do with what I am doing now....Oh yea, except get my foot in the door cause a Bachelor's was REQUIRED! I am not saying you can't be successful in life, or not make any $ without a degree. What I am saying, is stats show people with degrees make/will make more $ than those without. Most jobs are requiring a degree to even get an interview. For those making good a good hr. rate and laughing about not having a degree, what are you gonna do when you hit the ceiling pay wise, and every other job you look at wants a college degree? Will you be laughing then? It is bullshit that companies look for college degrees, but it is what it is. Shit, all the jobs I want require MBA's, so I am in Kaplan classes preparing for my GMAT, then will enroll in school for my MBA next fal probably.

In any case, I make 50 K right now, and it is fucking pennies. In order for me to secure a 6 figure job by my early 30's, and set myself up to be in upper management by 40 making 200K a year, education is required. I suggest everyone step their education game up, a college degree is becoming what a HS degree was 20 years ago.
Didn't you just graduate a year ago? 50k in your 2nd year ain't too shabby, but I presume you're unhappy with the pay based on it not offsetting living costs?

I have a B.A. in Journalism/Mass Comm from Humboldt State University... they say get a degree in something you enjoy and the money and opportunity will follow. Well, I call BULLSHIT! I've been out of school for damn near 4 years and still haven't landed a journalism job. I make peanuts at my current job and I owe a shitload of cheese to school loans and credit cards I used to get through college. And since this bachelor's I have is pretty much equivalent to a high school diploma these days, I want to go get a Master's degree, but because of previous school debt I can't afford it and still live with moms at the tender young age of 28.

The lesson here: FUCK COLLEGE...FUCK DEBT...GO WORK, EARN, AND STACK.

well im in college as we speak, getting a math major and going to get my teaching credentials, and do exactly that, teach..

i was thinking about engineering at one point, but for one, i can't stand being that serious all the time, and two, engineers are typically assholes and i never get along with them, so there goes my work environment.

but for most jobs, it doesn't matter exactly WHAT you majored in, but that you went through 4+ years of extra school and pulled through.

I have a BS in Math and Masters in Education from San Diego State.

I teach high school math and am studying to take the Administrative Exam to become a principal/vp.

LMAO @ "back tat". CMP CEO - you know little of what you speak in terms of a retirement plan/401k, that's why JL was getting on you. Do your thing, Big Africa!

For those of you with college degrees, what do you have? What type of work do you do? And does it apply to your job now?
I just got (in June) my Bachelor of Arts in Journalism, with a specialization in Broadcast Journalism...minors in Advertising and Sociology...

So far...I haven't even looked for a job...but I was on vacation all summer, and I'm leaving again in a month...so I'll be finding a job in December (I hope).

But I do intend to find a job in my field.

Yeah, I liked it - but I'm from here and have very little to compare it to. Some of my undergrad friends went into a competitive masters in ed program at UCLA that focused on teaching in inner-city schools.

They really enjoyed it and really enjoy teaching. After you get your undergrad degree, I suggest looking around for focused programs such as this one.

Enserio.....That is tight. There is another Mexican on this site that knows Math! PIMPTACULOUS!

What Math did you go up to? When I get my full Engineering degree, I was thinking of doing a Minor or another BS in Math. I like teaching Math. I have done Algebra, Trig, and some calculus, not much though. I am also taking an Applied Statics class right now. It is pretty tight. Talk about 2 page problems!

I don't have a degree but currenty hold a process tech III position at a manufacturing company money is good as well as benefits. I have college credits under me but never finished just couldn't figure out exactly what I wanted. I plan on going back next semester to get something computer related although I have been promised an engineering position by next year I still need a degree to fall back on.
