WOW this thread turned into a flame war! At the end of the day, Dru is not only someone I've worked with alot, but a friend for damn near 15 years. I told him I wasn't diggin' it but wished him the best. The only reason I even bothered was because I know he has real lyrical talent and can do SO much better. Why bother doing a song like that if it isn't gonna sell huge and make you alot of money? Lil B is one thing but he's his own persona. If you stick to what you're good at, then you can make shit happen regardless. This has nothing to do with being "stuck in the past". I'm not sayin' Dru should go back and try to do what he did in the 90's but lyrical ability is TIMELESS. To compare other white rappers, look at a dude like Yelawolf who is dope on the mic, makes club AND street songs and recently signed to Shady 2.0. ....Just sayin' you can keep your credibility and still sell. Hip-Hop has gotten to the point where r&b is. You can make grown folks shit or teeny bopper shit. With the exception of cats like E-40, no "kid" wants to hear a 30 somethin rapper unless they're already well known anyway.
