One things for sure. If he would have made a song how he normally does instead of copying lil b this thread wouldn't have made it to page 2. Maybe he's on to something.

The youth today have no idea who the d boys are...even here in vallejo. That album would flop. Unless you got a budget to put out a free album then anything you want to happen won't. Im not saying that this record would do any better but it does cater to todays young audience just the dboys did when I was 15
U make sence slapmaster, i just hate when they wanna cater to the new audience, but what about us faithfulls that ben buying there music since day one. i mean those kids probebly dont even have money to buy his music and in the other hand i buy his shit as soon as it drops, like the cd JayTee is pushing on Raprealated called 707 to 505 i bought it hthe min it came out bet those kids dont even know about it.

the music you bought previously was made for you. his new ditty aint. Dru obviously feels that he should be doin more to spread his love of rhyme. if you think you can be a star but aint, you either aint doin somethin right, or you aint got that right somethin. Dru tryna do somethin right regardless of what "underground" rap fans think. he's his own man and i respect what hes doin even though the songs shit.

cats hate the majors cus they "tell the artist what to do" to sell. yet underground fans, like this board, try to tell the artist what to do to sell, but just to a way smaller audience.

LOL I had to hear the song after reading everything. WOW. The song is bad, but not bad enough to be on Lil B's status where he gets 5 million views on worldstar or a tour. So I guess the song is stuck in some sort of bad song purgatory.

WOW this thread turned into a flame war! At the end of the day, Dru is not only someone I've worked with alot, but a friend for damn near 15 years. I told him I wasn't diggin' it but wished him the best. The only reason I even bothered was because I know he has real lyrical talent and can do SO much better. Why bother doing a song like that if it isn't gonna sell huge and make you alot of money? Lil B is one thing but he's his own persona. If you stick to what you're good at, then you can make shit happen regardless. This has nothing to do with being "stuck in the past". I'm not sayin' Dru should go back and try to do what he did in the 90's but lyrical ability is TIMELESS. To compare other white rappers, look at a dude like Yelawolf who is dope on the mic, makes club AND street songs and recently signed to Shady 2.0. ....Just sayin' you can keep your credibility and still sell. Hip-Hop has gotten to the point where r&b is. You can make grown folks shit or teeny bopper shit. With the exception of cats like E-40, no "kid" wants to hear a 30 somethin rapper unless they're already well known anyway.

I read in the Vallejo Times a couple years ago Dru went to barber school and was going to take over a babershop on springs road in Vallejo. Is he still doing that as a day job?
