If you listen to Philly rap at all, you can tell Wayne has a Philly flow. There's no reason whatsoever to believe Gillie DIDN'T write for him, cuz Gillie's just as lame. There was a shift in style on the exact albums that Gillie did and didn't write for, you can tell. Even if Wayne writes his shit now, he got the style from spitting Gillie's shit for so long.
