It's time for all of us to create our own music capitol! Holla at DJ Mark 7, send em your shit. Find other DJs out here and stress to them that everybody needs to be involved. You can't blame our radio stations out here for east coast cause thats where all the money is at. They gettin kicked down. The bay is highly independent so we don't need the radio we got the clubs, djs, street promo, etc. When the consumers start to recognize our efforts, then you will see a change in our market.

ha, i cant believe he said that about bay lyrics. our are the best, and the great thing is our lyrics are true. what the hell is Fat Joe or Jay-Z rappin about? Our folks be rappin about making money, and other stuff. ours are true gangstas. its just two different styles.

Damn, Im looking back on my old thread here and I realize HELLA DUDES got mixtapes now. Was I Nostradamus on this shit or what? Id say this should be classified under the "classic posts" section eh?

Also, how do dudes be selling these mixtapes without obtaining the rights to the music? Cant that lead to some serious legal troubles?

The reason you don't see that many Bay mixes is Bay artists for the most part only put out their shit on CD. No promo or full-length vinyl. East coast and west coast hip hop artists understand the importance of the DJ/vinyl scene and do. That's the numer 1 reason. Most bay artists just disregard the DJ scene out the gate and later complain how come no DJs support west coast? Well, how you expect DJs to play your shit if you only have full length CDs? To most Hip-Hop DJs to mix CDs is sacrileges. And when they do release shit on vinyl its usually very slow (BPM). A lot of the hip hop artists that you might not even heard of have been consistantly selling 15,000 + vinyl singles just on the stregth of the DJ scene. Shit groups like Hiero, Souls, Defari, Dilated Peoples, Zion I make good livings strictly off of the vinyl scene.
