Why don't the Yay have a mixtape scene like the East and the South do?

Ima peep that Cellski mix tape...I think mixtapes are the shit.
Hold up a second, why everyone talking bout that Cellski Freestyle Mixtape on this? It's a nice CD but mixtape it ain't, the beat ain't continuous and there's no mixing..... damn its just a bunch of separate tracks. If the yay need to come with a mixtape, it need to come with some fool actually cuttin up tracks, mixing promos and catching the beat the whole way, not a bunch of tracks with the usual silent pauses between them like that Cellski CD.

Most of those "freestyles" on eastcoast mixtapes are not really freestyles, they are just written verses that are usually spit over a popular songs instrumental.
freestyle : off the top flow or a unheard verse......
KRS one...

thanks for trying to clarify that tho tim... but the blastmaster himself said that freestyles arent just off the top/spontaneous flows..........

thats why alot of mixtapes say FREESTYLES and the verses on it arent off the top....

if you drop one of those verses on a mixtape....or say it in a cypher and never repeat it again..then yes...its a freestyle...
Yes, but most of the time the verses end up on the artists album.

!!

I am from the East so I know the mixtape scene....

And its not worth it with allt he competivness....complimations are overall tighter then mixtapes....cause they got vcariety of artists and their not wacvk freestyles by unknown artists on the east.....

sometimes.......alot of times your listening to a verse of a song from the song which got leaked..those arent freestyles....those are previews..................................
Yes, I know, but I'm referring to rappers spitting over a popular beat and using a verse from a song on their album. They are labeled as "freestyles" which can be misleading to some.

The East Coast mixtape scene is just too saturated...alot of cats still hold it down tho for alot of people that will never otherwise get radio play an shit...Like what I try to do. Throw cats on that need pushin of their product...Cats out here like T-Ski been doin it for a long time too...From what I've seen from MOST Bay mixtape DJs tho are mixtapes full of East Coast shit! Don't get me wrong, I make those TOO, but the Bay is where my heart is and those mixes come first and foremost with me. Plus I like PERSONALLY networkin with the cats I throw on...Which brings me to my next point:

It cracks me up how alot of artists on the board cry about not gettin heard, yet I put up a post a couple weeks back asking for songs and I.D.'s and I MAYBE got 8 responses....Shows you where cats heads are at!
