I know I've heard people brag about having an album before it's released. The only thing that could begin to stop the download of cds is if it was made a WORLDWIDE law to ban the sites that do it. People could still burn cds for their homies once they buy it, or email mp3s, but it would be on a far smaller scale.

I been buying rap since 85 really strong I have actually too big of a collection and I rarely download anything..Only shit I downloaded was a few mixtapes but they were for free..Ive received a few albums from friends..but I rarely ever listen to those..I bought the new 50 and chamillionaire when they came out and still aint even listened to them..I do not have the room anyways to store what i have let alone anything more..I still buy shit..but not like i used to like I used to by around 10 or more c.ds a month .....There used to be an excitement to have shit no one else has but those days are gone...A world wide ban would never happen
Youre prolly right. The last (newly released) cd i bought from a store was E40 Ghetto Report Card. I gave it away.. I was hella disappointed. I'm a big E40 fan. He was still bustin, but the flavor was something totally different that I wasn't feelin. But I buy cds from niggaz on the streets. I just try to read people when I meet them to see if I might like their shit...
You may see the download game taking over the cd game, but once its all files online and you CANT buy a cd even if you want to (which wont happen because then you limit your music customers to online customers and people that own mp3 players) what would stop people from stealing all of the music?? the p2p programs share files directly from your computer. so once you download MC Whoever The Fuck's album, its in the system and it's free all over the world... see what I'm sayin? I'm just sayin it's too easy to download music free and there's no way to get caught really, so why would it get any better, cd or no cd.... and that WILL have long term effects on the music.

Even before peer to peer programs there were ways to "steal music"...remember tapes?...Piracy is not going away...that is a problem that the music powers that be must solve. The digital downloadable albums that companies put out are not a solution to piracy....you know it, I know it, and they know it. But they know they can make a little profit off of it without all the production costs that goes into making a cd. So its more about embracing new technology and trying to make a little profit off of it until something better comes along.
