so u think mitch made a better rep now??? hahhahahahahahha so Dago got a better reputation now?? wow i dont even think thas true we still divided n niggas is still gettin ran off stage.. ask tony yayo... lol... and im talkin solo!! now if mitch was on BET talkin bout Urban Survival Syndrome in stores comin soon or whatever that would of made sum noise but hes in the background wit krondon n phil da agony.. wit xzibit doin pretty much all the talkin.. shyt i give it up to Xzibit for pushin a Dago artist and puttin dago in the air for niggas... thas the engine rite there... xzibit got em this far but i dont hear noooooooooo strong arm steady out here... and once again what is all that on suckafree sunday n all dat doin for us?? like how are we benefittin from it???
i never said the rep changed and tony yayo was like 3 years ago lol, but as i said before you cant blow a whole city up with one move or one artist, 50cal said jayo put dago on ther map and didnt pass the ball but i think when he blew up other dago artists shoulda automatically jumped in instead of waitin on jayo to give em some room, the fact is that for some reason the big homies on the west dont give room for the ygs like the south do, so instead of waitin, when someone blows up all the artists should jump in with some radio and vid hits, thas the best time to invest in your won career, when your city has alil shine..as for mitchy i think the best time for him is now becuz alot of people know about em and what hes doin..i really think with ther right promo he can do sumtin
but i agree right now theres nothin too big

Lil Cs sold his shyt in the street n grinded it ALL the way out... he put his hustle into the rap game n it worked for him.. im pretty sure it was hard work what he did.. n he wasnt sellin most of his records in no best buy or no walmart or anything.. .maybe the parkin lots but not inside tha store... if he were to leave it up to the stores sellin his shyt it wouldnt sold like how it sold... they pushed it they had a sales pitch behind theyre music.. plus cs a factor so you gotta spen 10 wit da nigg... but if he were to jus promote and leave it up to the stores we might not see the same results im almost a 100% sure of that.. sum artists sell more on the street than in the stores but the stores is what counts..

50, ive always respected your opinion & youve told me a billion times to GET OUT OF THE STUDIO.... i know what youre saying & wouldnt take any of it as DISSING.

1: youre right about the IMAGE..... ive had issues with it before but im kinda saying FUCK IT, IMMA LET THE MUSIC SPEAK FOR ITSELF. THATS WHAT EAZY-E did when he 1st met JERRY HELLER. he didnt tell him all the dirt he did. he didnt rep no certain set. he let the music speak for itself.

2: i know. i just wanna make sure that my album is EXACTLY how i picture it. so maybe thats a draw back. ill honestly be happy with having just 1 album out for the rest of my life, if it doesnt do shit.... cool.... i tried & thats it. & as long as i am happy with what i did.... thats all that matters to me.

3: i hope youre wrong about that. & im not saying your point isnt valid, but thats exactly WHY i stay where i stay. that why i AM in the studio. i wanna do something that can do more.

4: if u went to DOWNTOWN or THE BAMMER & no1 knows me, again - i think thats because, im a voice on the radio... i got no posters up yet, no flyers, i did 4 shows in canada in february but i dont really focus on home turf, i usually go where i can get a couple bucks. i got no album up yet.... nothing. i think that once i release everything & once i put everything in motion.... i WILL have the street posters up, i WILL have more songs with huge guest apperances, i WILL make sure that my album cover is recognised by the time the record drops. again, right now, no1 knows me. im probably the 1 rapper that can admit that. but it doesnt mean in the future, no1 will.

*EDIT* also, the bammer & downtown wouldnt be where i focused my promotion or where i would expect my fans to be.

theres a vast amount of people East of the 15 that got no "HOMETOWN HERO" for them. fuck it, i can be that.
So My advice is get your image together...get some pics taken...design logo shit like that and make each one synonamous with the next make yourself recognizable....I realize EAZY did it, but we living in different times...Take 12 songs that you think people will like press up a c.d and push...do a few shows..shit make 1 fan at a time...do something different as far as marketing then the next guy.....here is a free idea...i do not know how good it is....Go to a company that sells plastic bags...ya know the ones you see in super markets and stores.....have them print your logo and info on one side and the other side a store of your choosing if they even use advertising if not have yours on both sides.. ( work it out in advance with store) tell store i will give you some free bags like this...they will jump...everyone that purchases from them will see your info....it might sound corny...it may or may not work..its just an idea

you can put half of that $150,000 on a new leery gang project:
mooch massive
cee wee 3
LC janet
googie monsta
ecay on the beats..

thats all you need, the image and lyrics are already taken care of.
maybe a cool feature for a hot single or somthin..
youll have a cd that would definitely sell units.
the last leery gang lp gotta be in the sd top 5
No offense I think they all are pretty decent, but everyone you listed in my opinion does not have a marketable sound.....excuse me I mean for a wide appeal....If I had $150,000 to spend it would not be on multiple people...more headaches..jealousy envy and all the problems, unless each one was told and agreed that this go around they aint getting a penny until the investment has doubled and then splitting it 4 ways...well 5 the investor...and the investor should get the biggest share, unless others are contributing in other ways. so I would just get 1 Artist pay about $1000 a beat so after the album is done and artwork you should have about $120,000 or so left to press and promote...

Man, I could write a book on this shit. Its going to be hard for me to keep it short, and I doubt if I can, so bare with me. I was debating if I should even respond to this post, because I never want to discourage, but encourage. But at the same time niggaz need to know what they're facin, and what the real is. I mean it is what it is. As the owner of one of the most successful labels in Dago history (4 cds and one dvd and NEVER took a loss) I feel I shouldn't be selfish and not share the shit that I know with ya'll. That's why I said fuck it, and responded. I'm going to keep it real, and just tell the truth, whether you see it as negative or not!!!!! Let me say this first, there aint no money in the rap game!!!!!! Period!!!!! Rap game money is gone, and if it is coming in, its too slow!!!!!!! Especially to survive off of!!!!! If a nigga says otherwise, he's lying!!! Look at diddy and jay z etc. They'll say they don't make money off music, its off the other ventures that music created. BUT also like jay z said, if you haven't already blew up, its going to be damn near impossible to do it now!!!!! I'm talkin about selling 500,000 to a million cds is dam near impossible nowadays. Even the hit single people can't do it (with the exception of soulja boy). The rap game is a BAD INVESTMENT. If you're a businessman (investor, artist, major label) you will see that its a 99% chance you're going to lose on your investment, and I don't care what anybody says, the more money you pour into it, the more you're going to lose. Maybe not 10 or 15 yrs ago, but nowadays that's the reality of it. Just try it and see. Anybody that has REALLY BEEN IN THE GAME WILL TELL YOU THAT. Its like any investment stocks, real estate etc, its a chance you might lose, but the difference is the rap game is like insecured debt (I.e. Credit cards), and stocks and real estate is like secured debt. When you invest in rap and you lose, there is NO chance you will ever get your money back, but when you invest in stocks and real estate there's a chance you will make money in the long run (if you can hold on), because its secured by somethin that can eventually gain value. Puttin money in a local artist is not. Especially after you can't sell the 1000 cds you pressed up off the 20k investment. Its a wrap! That money is gone. The fact of the matter is, NOBODY'S SELLIN!!!!!!! Not majors, indies etc. So why would a major sign someone with how the market is right now. And why would an investor put money in this shit. Its not worth it. ESPECIALLY if you're coming from the west coast, even MORE ESPECIALLY if you're from Dago!!!! Look at the game from a bet, mtv, soundscan REALISTIC point of view. The west coast gang bang shit is played out!!!!!!!! Our image is played out. It will not sell in the mainstream!!! Even if the east coast and lil wayne bite the west coast culture. They still won't buy us. Its sad but true! Read up on the game and see how hard it is right now, instead of sayin' such and such could blow up, because the reality of it is 99% of the rappers in every city across america won't blow up. And EVERY city that hasn't blown up, think they're next. Its almost easier to make it in the nfl and nba than the rap game nowadays. I'm not sayin everybody should give up. KEEP TRYIN AND HUSTLIN, BECAUSE YOU NEVER KNOW, BUT THE CHANCES ARE REALLY A LONG SHOT. SO, just don't count on it to secure your future! All of us are smart. You mean the only thing we can do is rap????!!!!! I give us more credit than that. And anything besides doin' the music thing game aint cool? Now about the age thing. Here's a few things I would like answered. At what age should a nigga stop chasin that dream, and realize it aint gonna happen? Do they go on forever and try until they're 40 or 50? Or better yet, how many YEARS do a nigga chase this dream of blowing up, even if they still are in their 20's? Most niggaz tryna' rap DON'T HAVE A PLAN B. But the reality is, most niggaz really aint gon' make it. Its sad but true and real, especially if you look at the game overall from a broad perspective and from a DAGO perspective. Be real with it. And SKILL, SWAG ETC have nothin to do with why someone won't blow up. Its a million tight rappers with mainstream appeal that are not ever going to blow up. Niggaz are STUPID if they're basing their whole future and life off the rap game!!!!!!! All I'm sayin is if you're rappin have a plan b! PLEASE!!!!! WHAT ARE NIGGAZ GOING TO DO IF THEY DON'T MAKE IT!!!! BE IN AND OUT THE PEN, STILL TALKIN ABOUT THEY'RE A RAPPER. Niggaz need to step out of the rap fantasy in to the real life. You can rap and produce, but don't count on it to save you. I know niggaz don't want to hear this, and probably ignore it, but it is what it is. TO THE YOUNGSTAS, KEEP RAPPIN, BUT DON'T COUNT ON IT!!!!! I TELL MY SON THAT ALL THE TIME!!!!!!!! And to be honest, DAGO might have missed the boat of the west coast 90's era. Shit if someone does blow from Dago it might be a 19yr old with a dance. So what! He made it. We can't expect and shouldn't want a nigga that didn't grow up in bangin to rap about bangin. And I personally don't want to even hear niggaz rap about bangin. All that set shit is fake anyway. All that homey shit, niggaz don't give a fuck about you for real! They are acquaintences that grew up where you did, but they're not real friends. Niggaz from your own set will cross you out in a minute. So fuck promoting that bullshit anyway. But back on topic. There is no answer to this question, because its not that Dago doesn't have the talent, its just that the game is burnt out!!!!!! The bottom line to this long ass shit I wrote is, know what you're facing, keep trying, but have a plan b!!!!!!! And imo, I think a Dago producer has a better chance of blowing with their beats, than a dago rapper. Good luck to all the Dago rappers and producers. But 2 yrs ago I said wait and see, and I'm still sayin it. Time will tell everything...

One more thing, if you NEVER actually PUT OUT an official cd you don't REALLY know how HARD IT IS! You're REALLY talkin from the sideline, and from an opinionated point of view, not a FACTUAL one. Who has ever put out a real cd will tell you that!!!! If they're honest!

I have to admit Young Sau been making noise and the general concensus is that everyone seems to like his music. Why I believe Sau could blow is his diversity, I discussed a few issues I believe that could only make him that much better. Like him and hogg sure there are rappers all over who can rap as good, but when they make songs they really sound good to the ear regardless of what kind of beat or style..plus I know Sau got them great hooks, which really bring in listeners....Ive witnessed from Rosecrans and Normandie all the way to skyline and Meadowbrook and I aint met anyone that aint feel his shit

I was listening to Jamie Foxx's radio show and he mentioned that in the next 2 or 3 years CDs will be obsolete and replaced by digital downloads for ipods, mp3 players, etc. Do you think that's gonna make things easier on artist coming up in the game at that time? This question is for CS or anyone else willing to answer it.

That's a good question.

I've had this conversation with numerous people.

I personally feel that it might make it easier. Because the artists will have a much easier job sending emails and stuff, as opposed to slanging CD's. The cost of CD's will probably go down, so artists could press up promo CD's and hand them out for free. And in turn the person could direct them to their sites and shit.

I feel bad for the companys that press up CD's and covers and shit, because they will be hurt the most.

I been saying that c.ds will be obsolete although it doesnt take a genius to see the trend.I think at this time it is bad for upcoming artists, however its gonna take someone to create some sort of web page to offer easy downloading at great price..Most people say why buy it if I can get it for free....and some say I will download, and If I like it Ill buy it, but once they have it,refer back to If I get it for free why buy it...

Not one person fits that description. I don't care what anybody says, and deep down everyone knows it. The closest one IMO is smigg. But thats my opinion, because he sounds a lil mainstream, but the motherfuckin truth is NO ONE. Wanna know why? ask ya local radio station DJ. Play a mitchy slick record to todays cd record buying crowd and what do you get! Tha mainstream making up dances crowd. I'm sorry but until we could throw a dago record on in the club in ATL without everyone leaving the floor then we got nothing. I wish it was not this way but it is, and I say ATL because the limelight is there right now.

everyone that you guys named

mitch, jayo, rocc, smigg, boss, etc.

Ask any "Record Buying" crowd if they heard of them. Let them bump it I could put money on it they wont like it. It's GANGSTER rap to them...and thats not "IN" no more. IMO the problems in dago are.

WE HATE
WE GOT TO MUCH PRIDE TO MAKE A "IN" RECORD
WERE ALL "SOME WHAT" GANG RELATED (EVEN IF YOUR A WANNA BE)
WE DONT WORK WITH EACHOTHER
WE ALL HAVE LABELS THAT ARE MADE UP
WERE LAZY & RELEASE DATES ARE BULL
WERE TOO COCKY

I bet if there were no colors or numbers or letters or sets or gangs or crews involved and we were on one label and not apart we can MAYBE switch whats mainstream, but face it our next gen dago rappers are OLD too. When you think about this question actually think and think about whose buying shit now days because the one who knows and will use it will be the one to make it.

Smigg and I-rocc don't do gangster rap at all, have you heard any of their new shit?I know I-rocc and dave moss (heaterville) did a whole album and I have a few songz and NONE of them are gangster...he does have song wit G.malone I like that's a club song that's not soft at all but I wouldn't say its a Gangster rap song and he has 1 wit C-murder that's crackin too and that isn't a gangster rap song either, just good listening...and about ATL shit ...have u heard "take a picture of me" by smigg??? Its actually an ATL type song all the way...its on his myspace page,if anyone has his link post it! If Not I will sometime tomorrow

Where's Ecay-uno? I heard him on like 4 songs on that I-roc and heaterville album, they sound good together (No homo)
