[It’s about that time people]
Yes, I know it’s the same old question everyone has heard before but I’d like to bring it up again.
Question to theists of the board:
If god created everything, where did he/it come from? Did god just happen to form into existence or what?
If you reply with “God has always existed” than you just threw your entire theory out the door.
The theists/creationists claim life is too complex to simply come into being and that there must have been intelligent design. However, they do not take into consideration that god also must be a pretty complex being. By your own theory god could not simply come into being or have always existed.
This logic (if you want to call it that) contradicts the arguments they so often try to defeat. When we Atheists and scientists suggest that the universe has always existed, they say it’s not possible, yet it’s possible for their god to have always existed? If you believe god has always existed, why throw out the possibility of the universe always existing?
Of course, you always here these people say “nothing can come from nothing” or “matter cannot come from nothing” etc. (which to them I would say "sure. That’s why the universe has always existed"). They say, “Everything needs a creator”…Except god of course?!?
“Right”, says the theist, “God is infinite! So that means he’s always existed! He created time, therefore he is outside of time; he created space, therefore he is outside of space.”
It’s funny to me to see the word “infinite” thrown around so often. They say that god does not need a cause because he is infinite, therefore he has always existed, but “infinite” is simply a concept that keeps going and absolutely can have a beginning.
So now this is always where the theist really screws himself. Now he is placing god into an unknown place or heaven or whatever the fuck and outside of time because god is of course infinite. So there the answers will stop. The theist wants us to believe that god is completely unknowable to the human mind but they know it has always existed; god is outside of space and time, although they have no idea what that is or what that even means.
If god is outside of space and time; how is god infinite?
By there own way of thinking and logic they defeat themselves.
So, I ask anyone to please tell me the origin of god and if you say he is "infinite" I ask to logically explain the term and what that means for god. Also provide me with where this source of information comes from.
