Precious - this movie is about a fat, black, illiterate, teenage single mother living in Harlen in the 80's with an extremely fucked up life. Not going to say much but was a lot better than I expected, as depressing as it was at times. give it a B-. Mo'Nique surprisingly played the part of her disgusting mother very well.

This movie had potential of being an A if not for several factors - 1). they don't show/explain enough of WHY Harlem is fucked up in the first place (i.e social, economic factors that lead people to be poor, etc.) and 2). the movie demonizes people on welfare (the mother), which is common in hollywood (both republicans & democrats do this). Even Clint Eastwood did this in Million Dollar Baby (if you recall the main characters mother was a free loading welfare fat blob that wouldn't except gifts from her child in fear that she wouldn't be on welfare anymore). It kind of suggests that poor people are poor because they want to be or because they are bad people and unintelligent.

^^^Agree.

I watched Boondock Saints yesterday. My battle buddy kept telling me to watch it so I finally did. I liked it a lot. Brings up the question of whether it is okay for good people to do evil for the good of society. I looked it up online and was surprised to find out that it had bad reviews. I recommend it if you haven't already seen it.

LOL^ That's gotta be my favorite funny movie of the decade. Something about mocking war action films with Ben Stiller is completely ridiculous, yet appealing.

I watched Stargate again for the millionth time last night. It's an awesome concept for a film that was done really well, even if the acting was a bit too over done in some spots.

There were several funny characters, including Jack Black, Ben Stiller, and Danny McBride (for what short periods he was in it). For some reason I find Ben Stiller funny - very few people seem to agree.

I've been watching a lot of movies, just haven't had time to write them up.

Just watched Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971). Such a good movie ;p

Hit another foreign film.

Alexandra's Project. It was good but a little claustrophobic since it was pretty much all shot in the house. Twisted wife, but understandable. Aussie film.

Then I watched Cache (french) and it sucked major ass. 21 awards and 22 nominees? The movie was straight garbage. The concept was alright, but that was about it. The rest of it was weak sauce. The best recent french film I saw was Calvaire, that was good. Horror.

Scenes of a Sexual Nature (2006)

i stumbled upon this movie one mornin round 4:30am when i woke up for some reason and decided to smoke.. the uncomfortable pauses, awkward moments... and uneasy comedy the brits have mastered is what drew me in off top..

if you like wordy smart british dialogue this is your flick.. i enjoyed it.
