Sydal- You are starting to ramble on and on. You dont have to prove to me that you grew up hard, and went thru struggles. I'm sure you have. If you think that color is irrelevant, then you are in ignorance Sir. Being ignorant is not a bad thing, because we are all ignorant in some aspect. I am ignorant when it comes to doing computer graphics, when others are damn near experts. You asked how do I explain someone who "got off they ass" and made it. See, theres a few things we need to look at right there Sydal. One being that you even said got up off they ass. Would that immply that you think that "they" are sitting around on thier asses not doing anything? Its so second nature for you (which proves my point to an extent) to say get up off they ass, which is accepted here in the US as "stop being lazy, do something". Secondly, you must define what "made it" is. There are those who feel they made it cause they work at Dave & Busters and are able to pay a car note. There are others who feel they made it cause they own 3 homes, have a career, and 2.5 children. So what making it is differs from person to person.

You then went on to name some "blacks" that made it. Entertainers and Athletes. Wow, I tell you, this superiority complex is INGRAINED in folks...... So these people you named, "made it"? Those 9 people you named have also experienced the residual affects of slavery, and who knows, how much farther they would have "made it" without that hinderance? And again those 9 are exceptions when you have the majority of the people not living like that, or having it like that. Out of the millions & millions of black folks, you only can think of those 9 right off the top of your head as being those who "made it"? That is interesting. What about some of the black folks in your community? Have they not made it? What about the ones that work right next to you in whatever you do? Have they not made it? You picked entertainers and athletes. As long as we singin and dancin or shootin a ball through a hoop or catchin a ball runnin, then thats making it?

I tried to read your last post, seems like you were getting a little upset. I will do my best to answer.

A.) Proof, and not just a cut and paste job. And then we need to see how long that "land" stayed in the control of who it was given to. Alot of shady shit was going on, so dont believe all that you read. Behold the pale horse...

Funny how you say that you wouldnt give no money if some sort of reparations was put on the taxpayers. You dont make them decisions. Money comes out your check before you even see it, unless you got some special shit going on. Oh and Columbus -Spain, Italy, England = EUROPE. Those some white folks that made them "fucked" up laws, made it so that you have an easier way.

The way I grew up was never even put on the table, Reese. I don't even understand why that was tossed out there, because it never came out of my mouth. But since we're on the topic, everybody struggles at one point or another. It's completely irrelevant to the topic.

Now, about THEM being on THEIR asses...yes, people sit on their asses and don't do shit about their future. That's just a plain fact with NO COLOR LINES! That goes for a lot of people from EVERY race. It has nothing to do with color, so try not to twist it like it does. One of my closest friends is white as fuck, and always bitching about shit, but he won't get off his ass and fix it.

Those who MAKE it, are those that do something with themselves. I used the examples I used because they came to mind first...simply because I enjoy what they do. Let me give a few more examples of success in the black community. MLK, Medgar Evers, Malcolm X...they all stood up and did something with their lives. They may not have been the RICHEST men on the planet, but I consider what they did successful. Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton...also successful in my book. Then you have Johnson Publishing Co., Seaway Bank and Trust Co., Parker House Sausage Co. Inc., R.J. Dale Advertising and Public Relations Inc., Reggio’s Pizza Inc., Capri Capital Partners LLC, Luster Products Inc., Baldwin Richardson Foods Co., and East Lake Management and Development Corp. ALL BLACK OWNED BUSINESSES!

Oprah Winfrey is a BILLIONAIRE! FACT! So are you saying that if she wasn't black, she would be more successful than she already is? I find that hard to believe. She is one of the RICHEST PEOPLE (black, white, asian, Mexican, etc.) in the country...PERIOD! Black folks in my community work hard, I don't know if they "made it" in THEIR OPINION, but they do alright for themselves and handle their business, PERIOD! They live day to day, work day to day...just like you and I.

Have I traced my roots? YES! I didn't have to try too hard, because I'm only 3rd generation in this country. My grandparents were first born in this country (in our family), in the 1930's. I am absolutely, positively sure of my roots because they aren't that far removed. That would explain why I'm not 100% "Americanized"...and my kids won't be either...they will have their culture just like I have mine. Yes, Italians are "White"...Mexicans are also "WHITE" and "ASIAN"...because the natives did not originate here. Guess who else is white? Irish folks. Who hates Irish people on the other side of the globe? The other white people in Europe. Who hated Italians HERE? Irish and other white folks. With that said, I've experienced racism myself...from other "white" people. It's not slavery, but you can't sit there and group me with all the other rednecks and shit out there, because they hate my people too.

Spain, Italy, and England are different countries. England ran shit, Spain and Italy (much like south America) are LATIN COUNTRIES! England is not...they can't be grouped together. That's like saying "Mexico and Brazil=South America." Yea, they are in South America, but one is Indian/Spanish, the other is Indian/Portuguese...you can't group them together.

England made the laws, transferred those laws to the Americas...the United States was formed, fought British Law, then implemented the same ideals after the Revolution. Meanwhile, my family was kickin' back in Northern Italy making wine in the hills...far from any heavily populated areas.

And no, I'm not getting upset at all. I just refused to be grouped with "white" people because I have the same skin tone. White and black are not ethnicities, they are skin tone. Racism between white folks is based on "ethnic makeup". The same white people that forgot they came from a line of IMMIGRANTS, that think they run the U.S., that think they are "American"...hate ME, you, Mark, and anybody else that is not "Pure" white. There was no "Privilege" in my family. My family went from Italy, to the fields in California, and worked their asses off to get where they got...all while being called GINNY's and WOP's and Greasers...and being segregated just like black folks, jewish folks, Irish folks, Mexican folks and Asian folks.

I'm not taking away from ANYBODY, Reese! I'm just stating that, in all actuality, not every white person has shit handed to them. We all have our struggles and our history. Fact of the matter is, you don't understand what it's like to be Italian, just like I don't understand what it's like to be black. You can ASSUME that all "white" people have these doors to walk through, but in reality we all don't. We have to bust our asses to get through just like the next man.

Some older folks just get sick of seeing all the bullshit, so they tell the younger cats something. Probably the same reason I tell young white kids something when I see them acting like ignorant little fucks. Older cats have nothing to learn from an ignorant kid running the streets and being a dipshit...regardless of race.

the shit only starts at home...you need positive reinforcement in your family and if not that the community needs to be protective of their young people

everyone has to learn from someone man i think more people need to step up and be a mentor, i had mentors and i had after school tutors, even if they didnt give a fuck about me it taught me i could ask and learn things...once i learned enough to know how to find knowledge for myself i was able to be in the same position

i look at the shit different though i wanted to teach at one point in life..that was before i realized i really like marijuana...so i probably need to teach a group of rasta kids or something

if i can teach someone something about something ill teach them because i feel like it helps out. like giving a bum a quarter, it dosent do much but it gives me a universal sense of me doing something positive to change shit

blacks were freed from slavery and were given......nothing. they were not allowed to network in business, unable to get money from banks (back then it wasn't FICO scores, it was relationship banking. deals done with a handshake over a scotch on the rocks). blacks were barred from making money by the white-power structure.

no other minority has had to go through the conditions that blacks have gone through in this country.

blacks were not given SHIT because.......black people can be hated on for their skin, but everyone loves green. money is power. money would have been the equalizer, and there is no way white people wanted that to happen.
