Larry Fitzgerald, one of the game's best receivers, had little success against Nate Clements again. He had some catches when Clements was not on him. Fitzgerald had six receptions for 71 yards, including a 25-yard grab in the closing seconds (he was tackled in bounds) to set up the final play of the game. Smith recorded the sack to end the game.
Said Fitzgerald: "Those guys played well. They all did a really good job on their coverages. Next time we play them, we have to do a better job."

Nate Clements generally has the left side of the field, while the other CB holds down the other side, as was the case today. The Niners really don't have one CB follow a specific WR around all game, which is why I always laugh when people like Tony look at the other team's best WR's stats and automatically think he got everything off of Nate. It's clear evidence that they don't actually watch the games they speak on.
Nate does give up more plays than he should, but he's not a bad CB and he definitely isn't responsible for a lot of the shit these haters blame him for. He is not a lockdown CB, but his physical play makes him an asset in stopping the run and jamming receivers up. When the pass rush doesn't force him to be in coverage all day long he does real well.
