Some more Palin facts... Not only does she support the barbaric aerial hunting of wolves for pure sport, but this "fiscal conservative" inherited a town with a surplus, and by the time she was done as mayor, left it with a $20 million deficit

The campaign of Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) is presenting his running mate, Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK), as a reformer, fiscal conservative, and “tough minded budget cutter.” Other conservatives have latched onto this image - Phyllis Schlafly calls Palin “the total package” with “fiscal conservative credentials.”

Palin embraces the title, labeling herself a “hard-core fiscal conservative,” whose “agenda was to stop wasteful spending.

However, as mayor of Wasilla, AK, Palin “was not always the fiscal watchdog she has since boasted of being.”

During her term in office, Palin cut property taxes and other small taxes on business. But as the Anchorage Daily News points out, “She wasn’t doing this by shrinking government.” During her tenure, the budget of Wasilla (population 5,469 in 2000) “apart from capital projects and debt, rose from $3.9 million in fiscal 1996 to $5.8 million.”

Palin also successfully pushed through a sales tax increase in Wasilla, which went to fund a $15 million sports complex. However, a land dispute over the sight of the complex led to “years of legal wrangling” and cost Wasilla almost $1.7 million, “a lot more than the roughly $125,000 the city would have paid in 1998 if it had closed a deal to buy the property outright.” Wasilla is still facing budget shortfalls from the case today.

When Palin left office in 2002, Wasilla had “racked up nearly $20 million in long-term debt,” or roughly $3,000 of debt per resident.
And for those of you posting nothing but "I'd hit it," you obviously have no standards, so you can have it... I'd rather jerk off to midget porn than stick my dick in the grand canyon...

First of all

(Dumb shit)

Deficit in this sense is a year-to-year shortfall. Debt is an accumulation. In this case, the correct term is DEBT. Our country has a few-hundred billion dollar deficit...not debt. Learn the terms or shut the fuck up.

Moving on...

Suffice to say, you've gotta be a complete idiot to think that Obama chose wisely on his VP pick. The candidate of "Change" chose as his running mate someone who has been in the Senate for over 3 decades--precisely the kind of Senator that hasn't done jack shit for our country, and part of the reason the Senate (AFTER Dems had taken over) had an approval rating as low as 18% (the lowest EVER recorded, FYI, for you cockmongers always running your DSLs about President Bush's approval rating)

The speech was magnificent. You can either agree with that, or keep your head in the sand. Ask 100 swing-state voters, and most of them will tell you Governor Palin's speech shat all over Senator Biden's. And that's what matters. Her poking fun at Senator Obama being a "Community Organizer", vs her being a Mayor and Governor, was priceless. Anyone painting that as an "attack" really needs to get a sense of humor.

Senator Obama should have done the right thing, and selected Governor Bill Richardson. He did not. That is his own fault. Senator McCain made the correct choice--a Female Governor with executive experience. You can cry all you want, Senator Obama flinched, and Senator McCain hit him with the 1-2 combo.

As for further comment, I'll pass on this one. This thread isn't worth starting back up, just to shit all over everyone (3vs1, 20vs1, when has it ever mattered?), and shut it right back down.

Instead, I'll wait until the new polls come out, showing Senator McCain and Senator Obama neck and neck after the combined VP/Convention Bounce.

Maybe your shoes wouldn't be so dirty if you stopped shoving your foot so far up your ass. She left the town in economic shambles.

Moving on.

'Scuse me? If you wanna play those games, that sounds like someone else... wait.... it's coming to me... yeah, someone who's running FOR PRESIDENT... what's it been... 26 years in the Senate?

Hypocrite.

Looky here Filthy Flip-Flops, if I wanna hear jokes I'll watch Comedy Central, not a fuckin speech by somebody who's a heartbeat away from the presidency... it's one thing if she works in some humor between giving solid ideas for the country... it's a whole 'nother thing when she's puking out the same tired rhetoric and trying to be funny about it...

It'll be fun to watch her debate Joe Biden on foreign policy when she has no script in front of her. Oh yeah, and she'll really be able to connect with middle America, being from Alaska and all.

Carry on.

I'm pretty sure what he meant when speaking about Obama's running mate is that Obama is pushing this CHANGE, this NEW WAY, but his choice Vice President is a dude that's been in the government for 3 decades. If you want to start fresh, you run with somebody fresh. I'm pretty sure that's what he was getting at. Which wouldn't make him a hypocrite...just a person stating facts.

That's bullshit.

To try to blame a single senator for the wrong-doings of the past 30 years is garbage. Do you even know Joe Biden's track record? What he's voted for, or legislation he's passed / tried to pass? Has it ever crossed your mind that he might've been doing -something- positive for his state and the country if he was reelected to the Senate 6/7 times? It goes both ways.... if you're going to try to say Biden's incapable of helping to bring about change in politics, then JOHN MCCAIN IS ALSO INCAPABLE OF BRINGING ABOUT CHANGE IN POLITICS... that's why it's a hypocritical statement, because it was coming from somebody who obviously believes John McCain will bring change.

I can see your point. Don't get ME wrong, I'M not saying Biden was a bad choice whatsoever. I was just trying to clarify what I THINK was going through dudes mind when he stated what he did. I don't understand why you're coming at ME with these questions, I'm not the one that said it, lol. I don't care if the Vice President is old, young, new, seasoned...it doesn't matter to me, as long as whoever it is does their job as the VP.
