Jon Jones Stops a Thief Hours Before His UFC 128 Fight
Jon Jones will challenge Shogun Rua for the UFC light heavyweight title on Saturday night, but he's already defeated one opponent: Jones said on Saturday afternoon that he had witnessed a theft in progress and chased down and subdued the thief.
Jones offered an account on Twitter Saturday, saying he was out with his coaches, Mike Winkeljohn and Greg Jackson, when he saw a man break into a car, steal something and take off. The three men then gave chase.
"So while we were at the park today a crack head smashed this old lady's car window and took off running with her GPS just as we were pulling up," Jones wrote on Twitter. "Right away....Coach Wink goes after this guy. Without hesitation, Coach Jackson went after him...I was shocked and stood there for a second. Then I threw my phone down and went with my coaches."
Although Jones hesitated, he was faster than his coaches and was the first to get to the thief.

"Before you know it, we're sprinting up a steep hill chasing after him. I turned the jets on....we caught the guy," Jones wrote. "We got the lady's GPS back. Our driver took a picture of Coach Jackson and I subduing the criminal."
Here's the picture Jones posted, showing himself and Jackson holding the thief down.
"It feels so good to help others. It gives me power and energy," Jones wrote. "I caught him....Coach Jackson finished him."
We'll find out in a few hours whether Jones has enough energy to take out two opponents in one day.
