here's the question...WHO FLOODED THE MARKET? MIXTAPES OR WACK RAPPERS IN THE BAY?

my answer, a shit load of wack rappers.

the rap game in the bay was in a better position when we only had a handful of rappers...

that's when i used to buy CD's ...now a days, i find myself 6-7 CD's a year compared to the 30-40 CD's i used to buy a year..
Real shit. Bay music is in the toilet right now. And I use 2 buy 20 CD's a year & now I find myself buying 6-7 a year now.

I mean sometimes mixtapes are cool because they hold you over until the next cd the rapper is going to put out but sometimes that shit gets old fast because you have some rappers thats all they do and never put out a cd worth while. ex. Crooked I, Spider Loc and so on.

Whatever method that puts you in a better position is a good one. Some are playing with the game, Some are creating a Buzz and a select few are playing it safe till they get signed. There is no set format to making records. Press a record with original music, Throw a mixtape joint or two on that bitch, No DJ and no bar code what you call that? Street album. Being innovative in the music biz is a must. If a rapper goes against the grain or feels the need to make a bold statement there is a reason behind that. Reason being 9 outta 10 its to get your attention. Good post BTW.

CO SIGN LIKE A MUTHA FUCKA.

MIXTAPES, AND MIXTAPE DJ'S , HELP RUIN THE GAME ALONG WITH A FEW OTHER FACTORS

THE GAME IS FUKD AND COMPLETELY CHANGED AND I DONT THINK WILL EVER COME BACK AROUND. AND ARTISTS OLD METHODS OF GETTING ON AND GAINING FAN BASE AND GET MONEY FROM THIS SHIT ARE SOON TO BE WAY DIFFERENT.

AND YES I PUT OUT 2 MIXTAPES. BUT I TOO LEARNED THAT THERE ARE NEGATIVES AND POSITIVES TO IT, THE POSITIVE BEING I GOT TO LEARN ABOUT PUTTIN 2GETHER A PROJECT AND PUSHING UNITS AND GAINED A BUZZ.

NEGATIVE WAS THAT SOME OF THE MIXTAPE SONG I DID I FELT IF THEY WERE ON REAL BEATS I COULD HAVE PUSHED AS SINGLES. SO I FELTLIKE MY LYRICS WERE KINDA WAISTED.
AMONG HELLLA OTHER BAD SIDES., BUT I DONT FEEL LIKE WRITING ALL THE SHIT GOOD AND BAD.

BASICALLY IVE LEARNED THAT MIXTAPES CAN BE GOOD AS PROMOTIONAL MATERIAL., BUT SHOULD NEVER BE THE ONLY THING UR PUSHING. ITS ALMOST WAISTED EFFORT.

MIXTAPES ARE GOOD FOR ESTABLISHED OR HOT ARTISTS WHO PEOPLE ARE ANTICIPATING THEIR NEW ALBUM...IT DOES KEEP PEOPLE SATISFIED TILL THEIR NEW ALBUM DROPS...ON THE OTHER HAND SOME FOLKS PUT ONE OUT TO MAKE A BUZZ IF POSSIBLE...WE DON'T REVIEW TOO MANY MIXTAPES. PROBABLY 1 AN ISSUE-TOO MANY OF THEM

A lot of cats were bashing Yuk for puttin out so many mixtapes but when u hear his latest interview u know why he was held to doing so many mixtapes. He had no control over MDMP & had to wait for RAL to drop it. In the meanwhile he kept my CD player cracking with new Yuk material. He had no other choice. Crooked I, Spider, 40 Glocc don't have real record deals so a mixtape is all they got to offer.

real spit ya'll ...and wayne doing wayyyyyyyyy 2 many mixtapes..they can b ya buzz or yo buzz killer,,,its like the game, his mixtape shit b hotter then his albums. i think what the problem is ,is home studios....(ha) everybody a rapper now and u can record and press yo shit for 9 dollars....thats why we flooded wit wack mixtapes/albums. if studio time was 100hr universally we would hear good shit!!!!
