All I gotta say to that is divide and conquer....
Basic military pre-strike strategy. It applies in all aspects of the game....
Naw. Just because I'm proud of culture and roots doesn't mean I hate other latinos, the fact is that I'm not like other latino's I'm Mexican and proud to be Mexican. I still feel what they do, we share bad experiences and life is generally fucked for us but that doesn't mean I shouldn't celebrate my cultures individuality.

man is originally from Afghanistan. i thought you thought?
you mean the first human was from afghanistan? every scientific ideas ive heard tracked the mother of humanity to africa...

and to be on topic, generalizing what you are seems pointless to me, it matters when? filling out applications and any major school tests or surveys. if i was to identify with anything itd just be american. i wouldnt call black people "african" or "black" american though. its more like Black/African + American citizen. in my opinion the country you grow up in holds a certain social standard, the society you grow up in defines where you come from better than anything i guess. i just dont care about color barriers or "race", i dont believe in either, i rely on social class as it better explains the persons behavior.

black or afrikan on mines......

I prefer black because that is the term that malcolm x promoted "a black nation". Afrikan is the reality...due to the fact that we will always be our mother's child regardless of our separate journeys. I don't accept american because none of my people have ever been treated like this is our home....and only included in the title of american when its convenient. (during war times or international tragedy)

EDJ, I have to disagree with your assessments on Africans not liking African Americans. And I also think that the 2000 African Americans living in Accra, Ghana would disagree with you also. I’ve met quite a bit of African Americans living in Ghana and the first question I always ask them is how are they blending into the Ghanaian society. And they all have nothing but positive things to say about living in Ghana with the native people. Majority of the problems they encounter is what everyone encounters in a third world country. We have the African American Association of Ghana and they seem to be doing well in Accra.

Are there Africans that don’t like African Americans? Yes!! Are there African Americans that don’t like Africans? Yes!! Shoot are there Ghanaians that don’t like certain Ghanaians Yes!! You’ll never find all of the people in one group liking everyone in another group. It’s just impossible you’ll always have that small population that hates another group for different reasons.

Lastly, I don't think you've talked to enough Africans to get that type of a feel.

AND IT CONFLICTS WITH ACTUAL AFRICANS MIgRATIN' AND NATURALIZIN' THEMSELVES HERE. THEY ARE THE TRUE AFRICAN AMERIKKKANS.
That's true, it does get misleading but most Africans prefer to be labeled according tha country they come from, like Kenyan, Nigerian, Ugandan, Liberian, ect....

Anyway as for this post, I prefer Black over African American cause it's true that Black folks out here don't really acknowledge or have ever been to Africa. All tha cultural ties we had to Africa were robbed and taken away from us, so were not able to trace exactly what part Africa we came from. Tha term African American just ain't specific enough.
