Not really...are the Blazers really a ''way above average team''...? Seriously?
for having an average age of 24(3rd youngest in NBA history, I'm sure I have mention this before :)) and having 2 second year players be our go to guys, and to be .500 in the toughest conference I have ever seen, I'm ok with callin my squad way above average

That's your opinion, but this ''age'' thing means shit. They're grown-ass adults working in a profession; as a professional, in any field, you should be excelling at your craft at that age, after even 2 years.

And, as a whole, I personally don't see them as "WAY ABOVE AVERAGE", when .500 is middle of the road, or mediocre, and they're squatting on that line.

the "age" thing does matter actually. when you have a veteran on your team that has played in the tough games, taken the big shots for your team thats a huge advantage. the blazers go-to guys were both second year players and they excelled. we are just gonna get bigger, stronger and smarter as we mature, top 5 next season, and the west is gonna be just as strong next year too...

They don't bring up age because it doesn't matter....

they don't talk about bringing in veterans to teams because it doesn't matter, because it does. Because you have been there before

you don't think being in a playoff series before doesn't mean shit??? being around that atmosphere... you know it does

or have been through the last month or two in the season, and making that push to get into the playoffs... you don't think portland playing hard like they can still make the playoffs doesn't mean shit next year when they could be making a run at the playoffs???

you don't think they are gonna go, remember last year how we played and how other playoff teams played, that we have been through this before and have learned from it???? you don't think that pays dividends?

Very, very valid points, my friend. I'm dead-ass serious. No jokes at all. Those are EXACTLY the reasons why veterans matter.

The only problem is that your arguement centers around the playoffs.

The Blazers aren't in the playoff picture.

LOL come on. Shut the fuck up. Go get something to drink and have an e-shot with me.

LOL

I know it centers around the playoffs, and who is our most veteran guy???? RAFE!!! and how much does he play 7 min a game! imagine that.... so no wonder we struggled and didn't make the playoffs in the most competitive conference ever in the history of the NBA in my opinion, and still have a .500 record with the 3rd youngest team in NBA History! I have mention that before haven't I???? and have your go to player not be one of your vets but a 23 year old and a 22 year old kid....

and of course I would have a shot with you playa!

I'm glad they put together a good season, but its hard to get excited knowing theyre eliminated from playoff contention. The West is insane this year. Hopefully the Warriors can get in so I at least have a team I can root for in the playoffs.

Trail Blazers request waivers on F Darius Miles

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP)—The Portland Trail Blazers have requested waivers on injured forward Darius Miles, a move to save money under the NBA salary cap.

A medical examiner appointed by the league and the players association determined the damage to Miles’ right knee is severe enough to qualify as a career-ending injury, general manager Kevin Pritchard said Monday.

The 26-year-old Miles had microfracture surgery in 2006, and has not played for the Trail Blazers since. Tuesday marks the second anniversary of his last NBA appearance.

“Given the serious nature of his knee injury, we agree with the doctor’s conclusion that Darius has sustained a career-ending injury,” Pritchard said in a statement. “This allows Darius and the Trail Blazers to move forward and achieve closure to this matter.”

Miles signed a six-year, $48 million contract in 2004. By waiving him, the remaining two years and $18 million on his contract come off the team’s salary cap. If Miles signs with another team after being waived and plays in 10 games in any one of the next two seasons, his salary would go back on Portland’s books.

The Los Angeles Clippers drafted the once high-flying Miles out of East St. Louis High School with the third overall pick of the 2000 draft. Kenyon Martin and Stromile Swift were the first choices.

Miles played six seasons with Los Angeles, Cleveland and Portland, averaging 10.7 points in 412 games. The forward appeared in 145 games for the Trail Blazers after arriving from Cleveland in exchange for Jeff McInnis and Ruben Boumtje-Boumtje on Jan. 21, 2004.

With the Trail Blazers, Miles averaged 12.9 points. He scored a career-high 47 points against Denver in 2005, but also earned a two-game suspension that season for a verbal confrontation with then-coach Maurice Cheeks.

Miles also has a pair of acting credits, appearing in the films “Van Wilder” and “The Perfect Score.”
I wish him the best, but this means around 30 million in cap space to bullyfoot the FA market or take back way more salary in a trade than we send out.

^^^absolutely. fantastic game to send to home crowd off with. Jack even ran a couple breaks THE RIGHT WAY! And watching Josh McRoberts turn the ball over at will is the greatest victory cigar ever. He deserves a roster spot for that alone.

^^^ lol, that dunk he had though was legit! those outlaw dunks.... this was the best way to send fans home without making the playoffs, being able to pull players individually so they can get their own standing ovation, just the best way possible this season could end without making the playoffs

I was at the game of course cause I got season tickets, the crowd fuckin loved it, we have something special going on here, the NBA better believe that

TO has to be pretty close to untouchable right now. I'd give him him up if it meant trading up for Rose, but thats about it. 6th man of the year material.
