^^^I keep hearing that he would have been a top 5 pick in this year's draft. I wonder if he could be packaged with our pick this year to get us Rose. Hell, send Sergio with him so he can have a buddy on the bench to speak Spanish to.

no we hang on to rudy!!! after all this hype I gotta see what this guy can do in the NBA

I say we package up jack and frye and some second round picks, not that exactly, but some combination of that to either move up in the draft or trade for a PG

I say we also try and get calderon from the raptors!

Well, its a win - win situation for us with Rudy. If he comes over and is nothing more than an asset to land us Rose or Beasley on draft day, we win. If he stays and turns into Manu jr, we win. I'd just rather have Rose, nomatter how much of a bitch he is when it comes to getting shots:

HOUSTON (AP) -Derrick Rose was not getting stitches.

No way. No how.

You see, Rose has a fear of needles. No, make that a debilitating phobia of them.

He was told he needed as many as four stitches to close up a gash above his right eye after a collision during Memphis' 92-74 win over Michigan State on Friday in the South Regional semifinal.

That news ruined any celebration he had in mind after scoring a game-high 27 points despite missing almost eight minutes in the second half dealing with the injury.

Rose came stalking out of the locker room, yelling, ranting and on the verge of tears. He only calmed down when team officials agreed to glue the cut and forget the stitches.

"I'm terrified of needles,'' he said. "If I would have got stitches, they would have had to stick a needle right above my eye. So I was pouting, stormed out of the locker room. I was mad.''

Me either, but I love the idea of a premier pg on the team to go with Roy, LMA and Oden. If that happened we don't need to do anything about our situation at the 3 and the 09 cap space plan could be used to bring in 2 or 3 cagey vets instead of one superstar. To me thats the perfect situation because it gives the young guys plenty of time to develop and then it brings in vets for many years of strong playoff runs.

so mannish what do you think our starting line up for the season opener next year

I think i gotta go with

1-Blake(or some new player)
2- Roy
3- Webster(maybe outlaw if he keeps playing well at the 3 this year)
4- LA
5- oden

then our bench
Rudy
Outlaw/webster
Dolla Billa
frye
Rafe
jack(god I hope he isnt on the team next year)

hard to say. depends on what happens on draft day and the development of the current crop of players we have. I'm not holding my breath for Jack or Rodriguez to magically turn into starting quality pgs though. So here's my realistic projection:

1.Blake
2.Roy
3.Fernandez?(probably not strong enough to play 3 but may command starters minutes and Roy is definitely not taking a back seat at the 2)/Webster? (could possibly have his break out year like Outlaw and turn into the guy we thought he could one day be when he was picked at 6. He'll never live up to being picked higher than Paul or Williams but I'll always be grateful for Patterson and Nash and their tremendous draft day fuck up because it got us 3 stars instead of 1. Ok enough about the 3 spot, Jesus Christ!
4.LMA (obviously)
5.Oden (obviously)

ok now my pipe dream lineup after the unrealistic Rudy for Rose deal:

1.Rose
2.Roy
3.Webster (Outlaw is better as a 6th man IMO)
4.LMA
5.Oden

2.Brandon Roy
3.?????????(outlaw/webster???) I think A. Jamison would fit well with us
4.LMA
5.Oden

I also I agree with Outlaw is better off the bench, you want a guy like him who can score while roy and LA are on the bench getting rest

yeah seems again that the 3 is the biggest ??? going into next season....

fuck i didnt think about the bench, ok lemme try again

1.Blake/Sergio ( I have a feeling Jack is done in Portland)
2.Roy/Rudy
3.Webster/Jones
4.LMA/Outlaw
5.Oden/Joel

Now the pipe dream lineup again

1.Rose/Blake
2.Roy/draft pick
3.Webster/Jones
4.LMA/Outlaw/draft pick (nbadraft.net has us taking Kevin Love, but then again in my pipe dream deal for rose we lose that pick but we still have like 6 million 2nd rounders this year so who knows?)
5.Oden/Joel

lol thats my bad, I didn't either, then went in and edited the bench in after you quoted me...

but whats your opinion on jack, you agree with about 99% of blazers fans that he needs to get the fuck outta portland

he could have 19 points 8rebs 9 asst and only 1 turnover

but that one turnover is gonna be with less then a min to go in the 4th quarter with us down 2... and when he isn't doing that he is gettin 10 points and 5 turnovers

lol, man I would LOVE to get Paul ( i think 28 teams in the league would too) but thats even less realistic than getting Rose on draft day. As far as the 3 spot, I think we'll be fine. Webster is coming along nicely and people forget he's still only what, 21, 22? Outlaw turned into a factor for us because he was allowed to develop. Webster is a little less athletically gifted than Outlaw, but still very athletic, a better shooter with much better technique, and has a higher bball IQ. His ceiling is a lot higher than Outlaw's IMO and remember it took Outlaw 4 years to get to this point. I don't think 3 even needs to be addressed when you take that into consideration. Especially if we get a nice upgrade at pg somehow ;)

Webster is defiantly more basketball savvy then outlaw.... I think martell needs to add another demotion to his game which we have seen glimpses of this year, and that is the ability to put the ball on the floor and create a shot himself whether it be an open jumper or a drive to the basket... if he wants to be a solid starter on this team as a 3

Yea he has to go. his game just doesnt fit here. its become painfully obvious this year that pg is just not his position in the NBA (at least not for Portland). I still think he can eventually be a borderline starter/nice backup in the NBA, it just wont be here. Eric Snow is probably about where his ceiling ends. but I think KP knows that this offseason will be the time to get rid of Jack, because for some reason, he still has value around the league with a lot of teams. Rod Thorn seems high on him and may even still be willing to give us Harris in some type of Jack+shitty contract+picks package. He was quoted as saying he envisioned Jack as NJ's pg of the future around the time that deal fell through.

then maybe we get a Pritch slap on NJ and score harris like we wanted too... but not give up outlaw or webster and just give them jack frye+ picks

Yea, the thing is, he has those tools at his disposal already, he just needs to learn how and when to use them. I'm pretty sold on him as our 3 of the future. I expect a drastic leap in his level of play next year, similar to what we got out of Outlaw this year.

lol this whole time projecting the roster I forgot Frye was even on the team. he's been good for us at times this year. He would be a much bigger asset to us if he had ANY type of post game to speak of. Perfect backup/depth guy at 4/5 if he could do that.

webster leaping like outlaw did this year would be huge...

I hope it really does happen, becuase he is a good guy for this team, he fits in with us, and like you said he's only 21...

I still think he needs to get better at ball handling...
