SOURCE: GIANTS SIGN AUBREY HUFF

Quick blog here...got a tip from a source that the Giants have signed left-handed first baseman Aubrey Huff to a one-year, $3 million contract. That will almost surely set the Giants line-up for 2010 with Pablo remaining at third base. Kim Coyle reported yesterday that the Giants were still talking with Adam LaRoche, but my source now says that deal is dead, but can't say for sure. Huff stumbled last season to .241, 15, 85, but if he can return to his numbers of 2008 (32, 108, .304) this could be a steal. Stay tuned.
3-4-5: Huff, Sandoval, DeRosa?

If he can could hit ~.270/.340/.500 (~20 HR, 80 RBI) I'd be MORE than happy...especially with Ishi (and his GG Defense) being his platoon partner...

Bochy announced that he expects his 1-5 of the lineup to be: Rowand, Sanchez, Sandoval, Huff, DeRosa, and that Nate and Bowker are gonna compete for the RF job in spring.

Also, Merkin Valdez got DFA'd to make room for Huff on the roster.

And Also.. Yorvit Torrealba could end up with the Giants, according to Chris Haft of MLB.com. However, Torrealba may prefer to wait until after the weekend to sign with any club as his Venezuelan Winter League team is still active in the postseason.

Lincecum among 128 players to file for arbitration

By RONALD BLUM, AP Sports Writer 5 hours, 45 minutes ago

NEW YORK (AP)—Two-time NL Cy Young Award winner Tim Lincecum(notes) highlighted the list of 128 players who filed for salary arbitration Friday, with many likely to gain enormous raises in the annual process.

Lincecum has been one of baseball’s best bargains, earning $405,000 from the San Francisco Giants in 2008 and $650,000 last season, when he became the NL’s first repeat Cy Young winner since Randy Johnson(notes) from 1999-02.

The deadline for players to file for arbitration was Friday. Lincecum is eligible for the first time and figures to earn $10 million or more this year after going 33-12 over the past two seasons.
