I'd offer Tanner and someone like RHP Andy Reichard for Uggla....
and they would laugh at you, feel offended and never deal with you and/or your team again

BTW C. Tanner was a damn good amature......my team faced him in the summer of his Senior season for DeLaSalle HS.......luckily we had a 3-1 lead when they put him in to pitch......and we were able to hold on for a 3-2 victory.....but the kid held us to 0 hits and 8 K's in 3 innings.........

2:13pm: A source tells Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com that a deal sending Uggla to the Giants is "not going down."

Crasnick writes that the first obstacle would be financial. The Giants will have to give Tim Lincecum a major raise in arbitration and are already hamstrung by the contracts of Barry Zito and Aaron Rowand. Uggla is expected to make more than $7MM in 2010.

Sabean & Co. are also hesitant to part with Jonathan Sanchez, as his departure would leave the club with only three proven starters.

Make a play for DeRosa, fuck it. There's still decent players out there we could sign instead of trading. Only way I'd want to trade is if there's a very good player available and a team is interested in what we have besides Lincecum and Cain and Pablo. That's our core so no reason to give one of those guys up for another player.

According to Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com, the Royals, Giants and Tigers are among the teams interested in free agent Jack Cust.
All three teams are looking for an inexpensive hitter and Cust should fit the bill. He batted .240/.356/.417 with 25 homers and 70 RBI in 2009, but is a poor defender and struck out 185 times in 513 at-bats this past season. Cust, who turns 31 in January, made $2.8 million in '09.

this would be disastrous, cant field and k's more than anyone

Another disappointing off season, the only way Sabean could redeem himself would be to sign Bay or Holliday, preferably Holliday for his better defense and all around athleticism.

But this whole waiting things out is starting to slap him on the face, he did the same with Vlad Guerrero didn't he?

They're playing the waiting game, waiting for everyone to get signed then orchestrate a trade where we give up a lot for nothing, then that guy walks and becomes a free agent after the season is over.

PM ETSan Francisco Giants Top Email ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick reported earlier this month that the San Francisco Giants have had serious trade talks with the Florida Marlins in attempt to acquire infielder Dan Uggla.

Crasnick later reported that those talks have stalled, however, leaving the Giants without answers for at least one position on their infield. If Uggla was dealt to the Giants, Freddy Sanchez would likely move to third base to make room for Uggla, who has made it known that he has no interest in moving to the hot corner himself, and Pablo Sandoval would slide across the diamond to first base.

The Giants also have a need in the outfield, but it appears they haven't the available financial resources to jump into the conversation for either Jason Bay or Matt Holliday. They could, however, make a play for Rick Ankiel or Xavier Nady and stay under budget. GM Brian Sabean could also look to add a first baseman such as Russell Branyan or Adam LaRoche, leaving Sandoval at third and Sanchez at second.

The Giants' biggest financial concern at the moment, however, is the arbitration situation with right-hander Tim Lincecum. Once that is hashed out, the club will have a better idea how much available payroll they are working with. This may cause the Giants to wait until January to make any significant signings.
