pac bell doesn't have wide foul lines, so line drives and homeruns were missed by literally inches because of that..

thats what happens when you have one of these new "cozy" ballparks..they're smaller, and you dont have as much room for error..
WTF is a "wide foul line"?????????????????

what you just said makes absolutly no sense.....................ALL fields have striaght foul lines that start from a 90 degree angle at home plate. ALL foul lines on every field are identical.............foul lines to foul line will be the exact distance apart at AT&T, Dodger Stadium, Great American, PNC, Cinergy, Coors, ect........all of them

he meant foul territory.

the giants will finish ahead of the dodgers this year. end of story. we are making improvements, small or not, barry bonds or not, we are getting better. what have the dodgers done this off season absolutely nothing. thats what they have done.

YOU WERENT LYIN WHEN YOU SAID YOURE A WISHFUL THINKER, DUTCH... WE SHOULD ALL JUST WAIT AND SEE WHAT THE TEAMS HAVE DONE, OR HAVENT DONE, DURING THE OFF SEASON, ON THE FIRST DAY OF SPRING TRAINING... CUS THE THINGS THE GIANTS HAVE DONE SO FAR STILL DOESNT MEAN THEYRE BETTER THAN THE DODGERS...

and lol at you thinking the dodgers will be a contender this year..its gonna be the giants or dbacks, and the giants have the edge because theyve made additions, while EVERYONE else in the division has lost players and cut payroll..
how do the giants have the edge over the d-backs???? they are only going to get better with every year that passes since their position players are only getting better with time (ie justin upton 19 years old last year)

second........position for position the giants got nothing on the dodgers......slight advantage right now with 2 "aces" (linc and cain) but still cant hit shit..............while we have bills and Koruda who will get better after putting up good number whle injured throughout last season

Im not saying the giants have made any boss moves, but theyve set themselves up better than everyone in the division, including the dodgers, who have lost half the team to free agency or retiring, so your argument isnt really valid..

my point is, the giants have made moves, with or without manny, while no one else has, and since the division is so wide open, that makes us more contenders than those who havent..
the giants big moves are Randy Johnson, Encarnacion (SS), and some overpaid middle reliever? thats big to you???? johnson will be the only difference maker for you guys at the back end of the rotation if he stays healthy.....encarnacion will be an improvment offecnsively over all you had last year but will give up defense that visquel had (ya he still has it defensivly)

now to the dodgers..........lets see. we lose Nomar (bench player), Kent (benched for dewitt and injured throughout the season), Penny (out all year), Maddux (#5-6 starter), yada, yada, yada....................

C: Returns (Martin
1B: Returns (Loney)
2B: Returns (DeWitt)
SS: Returns (Furcal)
3B: Returns (Blake)
LF: OPEN
CF: Returns (Kemp)
RF: Returns (Eithier)

do you call that losing alote??????

funny u speak on lincecum, you must still have nightmares on how he struck out 13 of your dodgers in his last start of the season..

tim lincecum > the whole fuckin la dodger team

bitch

i was at that game............the dodgers had 3 starters in the game and they hit linc well (eithier had a 3B, Kemp a 2B, and dewitt a single................let me see a CY Young pitcher pitching against 3 starters and 5 backups..........after 3 inning 8 backups.............no wonder linc struck out 13..................give full facts about the game not just partials buddy

it was edgar renterria who we picked up not encarnacion, and 2nd.. i wanna pull up the game where barry zito pitched and stuckout 10. Kemp (1) Ethier (2) Martin (2) Kent (1) Jones (1) Loney (2) Chan Ho Park (2).

he won that game 5-2.

now lets go back to when he beat you guys 7-1 WITH Manny.. held Manny to 2 hits and no RBI's. The only RBI was a HR given up to Mark Sweeney on a pinch hit. He also struck out 6.

You guys are losing a couple of pitchers from your rotation and players from the team last season.. team chemistry is important to repeat that performance. If you guys dont re-sign Manny you have an offensive hole to fill in the line up.. Adam Dunn strikes out more than Manny, Abreu only hit 20 hr's.. thats 17 less than Manny hit, Adam Dunn hit the most but also struck out the most.

Not much of a market for Manny thanks to Boras

Manny Ramirez and his agent, Scott Boras, are considering an offer of three years and an option from the San Francisco Giants. That puts the pressure on San Francisco's NL West rivals, the Los Angeles Dodgers, to counter or lose him, according to the Boston Globe.

Teams we thought might get into the Ramirez hunt — the Mets, Nationals, Phillies, Angels, and Orioles — have gone in a different direction or decided Ramirez isn't worth the money at age 36.

"If Scott Boras came down on his outrageous demands, there'd be more of a market," said an American League general manager. "Everyone recognizes Manny's hitting ability, but everyone knows what happened in Boston, too."

Boras often talks about "iconic" players who pay for themselves. Sometimes it's hard to see what Boras is talking about, but in the case of Ramirez and Los Angeles, it was clear as day. The increase in attendance, up 5,000 per game. The excitement in the ballpark. The increase in merchandise sales. People watching more Dodger games.

Perrotto's Latest: Ramirez, Lowe
By Nat Boyle [January 4 at 12:26pm CST]

Every Sunday we read John Perrotto's Every Given Sunday:

* The Giants may be considering two offers for Manny Ramirez. One for two years "with vesting and club options that could make it a four-year, $100MM contract." The other for 3 years, $63MM, with no options.

youre right, i was way off, only Loney and DeWitt stayed in the game........Blake and Eithier out after 3 innings and Kemp out after 6 innings.....it was a great outing for Lincicum, but non the less a game that didnt matter for the Dodgers and it showed in the way they pulled guys early and the way they kept guys on the bench (Manny, Martin, Furcal)....by the way if i am not mistaken i believe Koruda out pitched lincicum while he was in there? only 2 singles allowed......bloopers if i remember correctly.........

renteria......i knew who it was but some reason i typed encarnacion, my bad.

we can nit pick game all day long they split 9-9 or something...that doesnt matter......

i agree in that we are losing some pitching Lowe has been more solid that the basic numbers will show over the past few years.............manny is obviously some1 we need..........Abreau will do a good job if we cant land Manny.......Dunn i dont like at all, 200 K's in the K happy NL West isnt a good thing...............
