just heard on gary radnich , zach wheeler is involved... so far not sure if any others are
According to Buster Olney of ESPN.com, the Giants are expected to give up prospect right-hander Zach Wheeler as the centerpiece of the trade for Carlos Beltran.
That would be quite a nice get for Mets general manager Sandy Alderson, as initial reports suggested that prospect outfielder Gary Brown was the centerpiece. Wheeler, 21, is regarded as one of the top pitching prospects in the game. The 2009 first-round pick has a 3.99 ERA and 168 strikeouts over his first 146 2/3 innings as a pro.

Beltran took his teammates and staff out to say thank you for 7 years with the Mets. Sounds like Zach Wheeler is the piece, Sanchez and Brown will stay put.
Ken Davidoff of New York Newsday reports that the Mets will acquire prospect outfielder Gary Brown and most likely two other players in exchange for Carlos Beltran.
The deal could be announced later in the day Wednesday or on Thursday. It's not clear if the Mets will cover the remainder of Beltran's salary. Brown, 22, is batting .317/.386/.466 with eight homers and 39 stolen bases over 459 plate appearances with High-A San Jose this season. He was ranked as the game's No. 33 prospect on Baseball America's midseason list.

FUCK YOU
lol giants gettin raped again in a trade

UPDATE: Whoa, this could be a better deal for the Mets than anyone thought. With center fielder Gary Brown as the centerpiece it’s a fine enough deal, but Buster Olney just said that the Giants are also going to include Zach Wheeler, the Giants’ top pitching prospect.

If it’s just Wheeler, that makes it an even better deal than just Brown. If it’s Wheeler AND Brown, mercy, Sandy Alderson has committed highway robbery, especially given how little leverage he had by virtue of Beltran’s no-trade clause.

FUCK YOU
UPDATE II: Now it’s being reported that it’s just Zach Wheeler heading to New York — maybe with some lesser prospects — but not Gary Brown.

Not that Mets fans can or should complain at all. Wheeler is only 21 and he’s already one of the top pitching prospects in the game. Since being drafted in the first round in 2009, he has an ERA of 3.99 and 168 strikeouts in 146 and two-thirds innings.

ight coo its just wheeler

It's Beltran for Wheeler straight up and cash. I'm fine with this deal I was praying Gary Brown weren't traded. I wonder if Sabean had gone to the Chi-Sox and asked Quentin for Wheeler and see what would of happened. imo, Quentin>Beltran. The mets getting Wheeler is a fucking steal, hope they gave us another player.

the defending World Series champion Giants ultimately had the greatest need for the switch-hitting slugger and came with the highest bid – 21-year-old right-hander Zack Wheeler, the sixth pick in the 2009 draft who projects as a top-of-the-rotation starter.

The Mets also will include $4 million toward the remainder of Beltran’s contract, which comes to about $6 million.

The trade could not be announced because Beltran has no-trade, 10-and-5 protection that requires a 24-hour window for reflection before official consummation. Beltran will approve the trade, a source said.
