The Giants are expected to release Pat Burrell and option Brandon Belt to Triple-A Fresno in order to clear room on the 40-man and 25-man rosters for Carlos Beltran.
Burrell is currently on the disabled list with a bone spur in his right foot and it's unclear when he would be ready to return. The Giants evidently don't want to wait and find out. He was batting .233/.342/.419 before landing on the DL. Belt has four hits in 12 at-bats since rejoining the big club earlier this month, but with the addition of Beltran and Aubrey Huff still around to cover first base, he wasn't going to get a ton of playing time.
Now reports are coming out that Pat isn't being released and Belt is staying. Prodigy is right release Hall. That fool is dookie. Either Crawford or Burress are probably going down since we have Fontenot and Keppinger who can play every infield position up the middle.
