So someone got me Arkham City recently... They really considered this shit for GOTY? Please. It's the same as the first game, which was "OK", but not so much amazing... The combat system is exactly the same, the graphics are the same... Granted, the city is larger and whatnot, but you never really get to see it. You just fly over all of it unless you actually take the time to hit the street and walk around...
How are you going to put this up against Skyrim as GOTY? I haven't even played Skyrim and I know it's better. I'd put up Fallout 3 against this game and Fallout would win.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but Skyrim isn't THAT good. The quests are bland, the overworld and most of it's characters are boring, and all of the fun of creating your own spells is gone. Now you get vanilla destruction spells, and a bunch of other useless spells. The skill trees that don't contribute to your damage are pretty much a waste and leave you ill-prepared against later, harder enemies. I haven't tried a melee or rogue character yet, but I can't even force myself to complete my mage run because I get so bored casting the same spells, and going to the same long ass, recycled dungeons. I can only imagine the repetition from using a melee weapon, or a bow.
Also, Fallout 3 is a bland game too. If you said Fallout: New Vegas though, I'd be inclined to agree. Easily the best of the four, not to mention if you play on PC you have access to a shitload of excellent mods. Check out "Run the Lucky 38" mod. You can actually run your own casino and get a share of the profits, turning an otherwise empty shell into a thriving location with all kinds of secret places to go to. And the quests and characters? Well, we're talking about a post-apocalyptic Earth, not your run-of-the-mill Imperial world set in the times of the sword and bow. There's a lot of opportunity for interesting and bizarre locales and character development, and Obsidian went all out in that aspect. Check it out if you haven't already.
