Na mayne can't wait that long, we need a hitter to bring that old school nastiness back to Oakland. Get him early second round, or if we trade down, draft him and then an Offensive tackle, fuck it draft Mitchell first.

Who cares what people think... that's what I like about Al, because he doesn't care about what other people think and he'll do what's best for his team. Do I think we should draft Mitchell at number 7? Nope, if we stay at 7 we should draft an offensive lineman, preferably a franchise left tackle to protect JR's blindside and then we need to use our high 2nd round draft pick on Mitchell. Do we have a high 2nd rounder? If so, then we need to use it on Mitchell. If we trade down and aquire more picks then we still should use one of those high picks on Mitchell. We need someone that could hit on our defense...

Realistically I dont see the Raiders taking Mitchell anywhere before the 3rd round. Unless they trade up and draft him late in the 2nd.

I think the 1st pick will be Maclin, since Crabtree will likely be gone.

Yeah I think Crabree will be gone (possibly to the Rams since Holt and Bruce are no longer there). I think we'll draft an Offensive tackle with our first pick and then draft Mitchell in the 2 round.... our DB coaches like that dude.... we'll see. I read an interview that someone posted and the Raider DB coaches are looking for someone to come in and make an immediate impact and Mitchell sounds like he could/should/would be that man.

Trading Fargas a possibility for Raiders
By Brad Wilbricht | Tuesday, April 21, 2009 | ( 16 )

The Oakland Raiders currently hold just five picks in this year’s draft, but they could be looking to acquire more selections when this weekend rolls around. With a logjam at the running back position, Oakland may be willing to part ways with one of its capable rushers in order to address several more pressing areas of need.

Although Justin Fargas has been a consistent performer in recent years, the Raiders could attempt to move the six-year pro from USC. With Oakland's top pick from last year’s, Darren McFadden, likely to be featured in a more expanded role, Fargas may be expected to take a back seat. In addition, Michael Bush continues to round into form and is also an option out of the backfield.

After seeing little playing time during his first three NFL seasons, Fargas broke out during his fourth year in the Bay Area. He compiled 659 yards rushing on 178 carries and followed that up with a career-best season in 2007. Fargas carried the ball 222 times for 1,009 yards and reached pay dirt on four occasions.

Fargas’ current value is no less than a fourth-round pick and he could even be swapped for a third-round selection if a prospective team is in dire need of a back. Several teams have also expressed interest in Bush, but the Oakland front office seems determined to keep him.

With McFadden a prototypical home-run threat and Bush an ideal power runner, Fargas may find himself as the odd man out. Despite signing a multiyear contract prior to last season, he could be deemed dispensable if an acceptable trade offer is on the table.

Also working against Fargas is the fact that he’s nearly 30 years old, a dreaded number for backs. While Fargas hasn’t been used extensively, he’s significantly older than both McFadden and Bush. In addition, Fargas lacks ideal top-end speed and doesn’t possess the elusiveness desired in a featured back at the NFL level.

While Oakland might show apprehension to part ways with Fargas, a third- or fourth-round pick is arguably more valuable at this point in time. Having three capable running backs on the roster is unnecessary with other areas in need of attention. Obtaining additional selections in this weekend’s draft would be an excellent start and leave the Raiders in better shape for the future.

^^^ I kinda agree that fargas could be expendable and i still think if they traded him they would still have 3 capable running backs because Rankin I believe will turn into a great back if given the right chance

Id hate for Fargas to leave, hes a true Raider both on and off the field. I see him being a future running back coach for the Raiders in the future....

He's just one of those players youd hate to see play against us. It'll be another Marcus Allen haunting against us all over again....

^^^ Id hate to see him play against us too but this is a business and if we think we need that extra pick that bad he is the only back i could see us trading i dont think there is any other player we would be willing to trade that would even be considered for a 3rd rounder

Getting a 3rd round pick for Fargas is not good enough to me. Hes a work horse. Im not satisfied enough with Mcfadden yet to have Mcfadden be the lone starter.

We'd be lucky to get a 3rd rounder for Fargas. He's going on 30 years old and has only really had one good season. If another team is willing to give up a 3rd for him you jump on it in a heart beat. Bush should be starting next season.

teams would be absolutely retarded to give up more then a 4th for fargas...he played hard for you but he isnt considered a top 20 back by any means...maybe not even top 25...

theres plenty of serviceable backs in FA and in the draft...teams value thier picks...3rd is most def reaching

^^ why waste time the draft is only 3 days away and most teams already have their list of players they want to draft and plus if its not fully healed yet you take chances of him re-injurying it and then he might not be ready by the start of the season the best bet for him and any team that drafts him would be him not running
