They may not be in the thick of the playoff hunt, but the Warriors are still leading the NBA in one category.

On Thursday Golden State unveiled more than 500 newly installed solar panels atop the team's practice facility in downtown Oakland, becoming the first NBA team to use the sun to power its facility.
"Our solar program enables us to help protect and preserve the environment by reducing our carbon footprint, while also maintaining our practice facility as one of the NBA's finest," said team president Robert Rowell.
It took six weeks to install the 537 individual solar panels on the roof of the practice building. With this new system in place the Warriors now have the capacity to save more than $2 million in electricity costs over the next 25 years.
In addition to the money-saving benefits, the team also took pride in being the first in the NBA to install solar panels, hoping it will start a trend throughout the league.
