THERE WAS ACTUALLY A THREAD ON THE SICCNESS ABOUT HOW KIMBO WAS THE TOUGHEST FIGHTER AND HOW HE WOULD SMASH CHUCK LIDDELL LOLOLOLOLOL. THE FUNNY THING ABOUT KIMBO IS THAT HE KIND OF JUST GOT THROWN IN THE MIX....HE JUST LIKES TO SCRAP. THE PROMOTERS DID A REAL JOB WITH KIMBO THOUGH. THEY MADE HIM OUT TO BE THE TOUGHEST GUY ON THE PLANET LOLOLOLOLOLOL. KIMBO NEVER MADE EXCUSES THOUGH. HE WAS HUMBLE FROM DAY ONE IN THE MMA GAME. YOU CANT REALLY KNOCK HIM THOUGH. HE WENT FROM BACKYARD FIGHTING TO THE U.F.C. THAT GETS MY RESPECT. HE JUST DID WHAT HE LOVES TO DO. FIGHT.

I REMEMBER THAT THREAD...I THOUGHT KIMBO HAD A CHANCE ESPECIALLY WITH THE RIGHT COACHING...
BUT THE JUMP FROM STREET FIGHTING TO MMA WAS A MAJOR FACTOR...I THINK HE HAS A KO VICTORY IN PRO BOXING IF THAT COUNTS FOR ANYTHING.

Chuck Liddell was tough in the last era of the UFC, before fighters had to have a "complete package" of skills. He fought some good fights and I enjoyed watching him for a good 7-8 years (as long as I've been a fan of MMA). Towards the end his chin really became a major problem though. I don't think he can take a big punch anymore without getting KO'd.

The only fighter I can think of to list as truly "overrated" is Tito Ortiz, as he hasn't proven anything in a long time. He's still part of that last-era and though he's tried to evolve, isn't up in the same caliber as the new breed of UFC fighters. I can understand his marketability, in the past, but even that's on it's last leg. I see him overseas or in the independent circuit doing announcing, or something. I think Dana really hates this guy, and so do I.

Chuck Liddell is overrated. A prime Chuck Liddell got TKO'ed by the no training Pride Rampage. Once the good 205lber got to the UFC Liddell turned into a punching bag. I stand behind my statment a 100%. I know my MMA too been watching since Ken Shamrock vs Royce Gracie. Maurice Smith is one of my favorite fighters and one of the most underrated champions in UFC history. I KNOW MY MMA MY FRIEND.
At least one of the following is true:

You do NOT know MMA.

You hate Chuck Liddell and want him to be considered overrated.

However, after reading through this thread, your rhetoric suggests maybe both.

well shit if people like tito and liddell were overrated "IN THERE TIME" then Royce gracie is one. yeah he only chnaged the way fighting was looked at and changed and sort of spawned an entire sport out of it but hey when all the real fighters came he wasnt shit lol. some of you guys just dont know. i bet anything you didnt watch any of these fighters in there time so should honestly stfu if you didnt. in his time tito was untouchable and beat everyone. then his time was over and chuck took the torch and was unstoppable and beat everyone until his time was over lol. i just dont think you guys get the concept of this thread here.

When Tito was champ he was beating guys that weren't all that great though.
Lost to Shammy for the title, Shammy left.
Beat pre-crazy Wand for the vacant title, in a fight where he literally turned his back and ran away.
yuki kondo- meh
evan tanner- middleweight, even if the slam was awesome.
sinosic- lol
the janitor- good win
ken shamrock- meh x3
then got smashed by Randy and Chuck
won decisions over middleweights Cote and Vitor, I think Cote was like a 3 day notice replacement.
Then that leads to his modern record.
